Connor7 wrote: Michael, your thoughts concerning modern day Calvinist are...interesting to say the least, but here are some modern day Calvinist that might change your opinion: Connor7 No! Not really. When I speak of "Modern Day "Calvinists"" I am speaking of individuals who I have met and know professing "Calvinism" who are out to convert people to their version of 5 Point Calvinism at all costs, and reject you if you don't. More than one individual including a pastor who belittles prayer because it doesn't really matter to them because everything is already predestined and to them prayer changes nothing ... one Pastor I suspect because of other things is one who won't even pray for the salvation of his own parents. And I don't want to forget the camp of regeneration before and totally independent from hearing the word of God, having godly sorrow over their guilt and the intimately personal choice being drawn by God to do so, to accept/believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Your list is bit of a mixed bag of Calvinists/Reformed, notable to me Durbin likes Ray Comfort; Washer likes Leonard Ravenhill. Here are some that might help you. Ryan Fullerton J.D. Hatfield Paris Reidhead Sean Harris David Platt Francis Chan |

UK Christian wrote: He saw no conflict preaching the Doctrines of Grace and His Jesus, as both Biblical. UK Christian I apologize my comment twas so brief. I was on my way out of the house.Never met Spurgeon ... yet. Until then what I know of this imperfect servant of the Lord Jesus Christ is this, many of his sermons, various biographies people have made about his life (which often emphasize different aspects of his life) Some things I have found different with him in contrast to many modern day Calvinists Prayer Open-air preaching Helping the poor Especially his Christ-centered preaching (NOT 5 Point centered) Calvinism seems to have not been a litmus test for those he would associate with, such as DL Moody And as much as I like him, as much as God has used his ministry in my life, for conscience sake I would differ with this well beloved cigar smoking preacher somewhat on music. My preaching? Still growing in this. Understand my heart is in evangelism, in loving lost people. Ever hear of Whitefield weeping over lost sinners? I am not "there" yet but growing in that direction - stand outside an abortion clinic and see mothers bring their daughters in to kill their babies. I like using the Law, warning of Judgment, |

Christopher000 wrote: Michael, I think you confused me with Connor. I'm sure Connor is honored and thrilled, but for myself, I forgive you in advance for thinking I was him...ha-ha. Connor, haven't forgotten about you, buddy...will get back to you shortly. No, I didn't confuse you with Connor 7 I just wanted to comment to you to be wary of overzealous 5 Point TULIP Calvinists because we all need Jesus Christ not somebody's version of Him |

John for JESUS wrote: I said maybe you ..... John for Jesus Christopher000There is way too much in this issue to answer in a brief post. Now this is my opinion/observation: Some, THANK GOD, not all who call themselves "5 Point Calvinists" have, in my words here hijacked certain Biblical Doctrines, complication and twisting them, in an attempt to foist there version of Calvinism upon others, viewing themselves as the only genuine true Christians, to them all others a wrong or worse of Satan (leads to some serious persecution if you go against them; think: the execution of Mary Dryer a Quaker, June 1, 1660 (no endorsement of Quakers intended) Enormously different from leading people to saving faith and devotion to Jesus Christ, to know Him personally for themselves, to love Him, serve Him in what He has called them to, NOT what the religious elite dictate to them. Brief advise, seek to be Biblical, immerse yourself in Scripture, believe and do what God says to you, even if certain Calvinists have a cow. Please remember "hijack" as if we get sucked into the never ending conflict with "hypers" Satan would have us throw out the baby of genuine Biblical doctrines like election and predestination and become some kind of one eyed Arm |

Connor 7 wrote: ... you've not dealt with my criticism of your view of the love of God, and you've not answered my previous question in respect to, "Can the natural man decide to love God?" So, can you answer the question, ...?" Excuse me, Connor; but why in the world ought I be concerned about your criticism? Are you some kind of infallible teacher, apostle, prophet? Can you separate anyone from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus? Shut up heaven against them?Do you not know or have forgotten the Lord Jesus Christ was criticized as being a friend of sinners, in my words here, He was someone who genuinely loved and cared for them, so much so He regularly spent time with them, even ... Thank You, John for Jesus ... to weeping over Jerusalem. I seem to remember a Calvinist of a different sort (George Whitefield) doing the same thing over people he preached to, weeping for them. Quite likely things the natural man does not understand. And like how unregenerate religious experts fail to comprehend (they cannot) Yes! A natural man can "decide" to love God ... BUT NOT ON THEIR OWN Only by the Sovereign GRACE & Convicting work of God by His word and His Spirit, to cry out to God to be saved from their sin. |

Mr b wrote: What a sad display. That coffee shop owner is going to regret every abominable word he spoke against the Lord. I am truly truly saddened at the spiritual state of our nation. I pray for that mans salvation. Anyone going to hell isnt a good thing. God have mercy on not just that man , but upon anyone who’s heart is far from You, awaken the pulpits across america, awaken fellow believers. This is eternal life and death. In Jesus name, amen Mr b It was good to read your post this Lord's day. God indeed has had such immeasurable mercy upon us who were so dead in our sins, so inexcusably guilty of sinning against Him without any excuse whatsoever. I love your prayer, and agree with you wholeheartedly, "Father, awaken everyone who professes to believe in Your Son Jesus Christ, from the pulpit to the pews and the pews to the pulpit; empower us by Your Spirit, teach us, lead us and send us afresh into the harvest field to witness the reality and love of Jesus Christ to them, till sinners feel the horror of their sins and flee to Jesus Christ to save them from their sins, to come to love Him preeminently above all others and all other things. Even here in NY State. Amen |

Connor 7 wrote: He's thrown a red herring, Dear Connor 7 I can sense Pink is very, very important to you and your Calvinism; but you really didn't need any "documentation" to know where he was coming from did you. Here is where I thoroughly disagree, and so should you, with the interpretation "the world" in John 3:16 is only the elect. It is found in the very next verse: "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." John 3:17 the words "might be" contrast considerably with "that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." Let me emphasize "should not perish but have" would indeed speak of the elect being those who believe ; but absolutely NOT the interpretation that God loved only the elect, with an immeasurable unconditional love (not an irresponsible arbitrary love). |

As in the days of Noah ... the earth was filled with violenceAs horrible and heartbreaking the shooting in Las Vegas is; we have a much deeper problem that gun control, living in a dictatorial police state will never solve. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the Power to change men's hearts from sin, and the love of sin to righteousness and a love for righteousness, a delight in doing the will of God. So let's indeed weep with those who weep and PRAY and Go Preach/Witness the Gospel of the Kingdom of the Son of the Living God make disciples baptize them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Until He comes or they kill us |

Lurker wrote: God simply passed over those who were not His.... who He did not foreknow.... who were not given to His Son to redeem in time. He simply left them to their own devices and they will receive their just reward on judgment day.' Dear Lurker Maybe someone might call your statement/teaching: Total Abandonment?Have you not read ... Good and upright is the LORD, therefore He instructs sinners in the way. Psalm 25:8 Since some are found of quoting Spurgeon it might be good for them to consider this: “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles H. Spurgeon Oh! And I wonder how many who loudly profess election and predestination, would like this one “Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter.” ― Charles H. Spurgeon |
