I've lived in the UAE for two years now, and I have to say that I know some very kind and intelligent Muslims. This country is a lot more liberal (in the good sense) and modern than many of its counterparts in the region, so they are more tolerant of all religions. For better or worse, one of the Sheikhs' palaces here had the largest Christmas tree in the world, and it was called a "Christmas Tree", not a holiday tree. There are Christian churches here as well as mosques...there may even be a synagogue around here, but don't quote me on that one. For the most part Jesus is respected in this country more so than he is in America, and you are highly unlikely to find a local atheist. In fairness, it's not all sunshine and rainbows either. I'd be leery of any person who said so. The nation as a whole is quite hypocritical. There is a lot of class-ism, prejudice, and racism among the people, and of course I do think that they have chosen the wrong religion. However, it isn't fair to paint them all as crazy, mad AYYRABS, because they're not. |

I don't follow Carrie Underwood much, but I think she's a genuinely positive artist. She's like everybody else. She probably goes to a church that is weak on the whole 'gay' issue. The mainstream media clearly sides with the 'gays' and makes people who disagree with the lifestyle out to be the bad guys. She probably then feels both a genuine sympathy for the 'gays', a trait that many, many "Christians" share;especially "Christian" women and to one degree or another she has the desire to sell as many albums and concert tickets as possible, so she doesn't want to offend potential customers. For "our" parts, the churches need to clearly define what the Bible says about this "gay" lifestyle, and at the same time try not to be so hateful toward the people who are trapped in it.There are times when the media does twist the actions of conservatives to make them look like the villains, but, in more cases than we would like to admit, "we" actually are hateful. Everyone has sinned and is worthy of nothing less than Hell. We should hate the lifestyle and should stand against "gay marriage", but in the end, we should care about the people. |

I don't like it that America is quickly going down the road of nationalized legal same sex marriage. Sodomy is and always has been an abomination before God. No law will change that. That being said, the legalized murder of babies throughout the nation is a much larger problem, at least in my eyes. Adults have free-will and they can and will make poor life-style choices, but they aren't doing so with their eyes closed. The sodomites will continue their sinful behavior with or without a "marriage" or "civil union" amendment. There is little that can be done to stop them. On the other hand, the unborn are defenseless. Laws against abortion would not stop every abortionist, but it would make it a lot harder for a law abiding citizen to murder a baby. It can be realistically regulated and save many lives. Edited to say: I always like watching Jack Van Impe. He always makes it clear that he is speculating. I actually think he's funny. Seeing the announcer, Chuck using a jet pack only reaffirmed this. |

I buy it when people say there are no good candidates. However, I do think there are better candidates. When Republicans are in office the government does not openly fund overseas abortions, we don't have LGBT craziness forced on us, murderers are still executed and in general, at least on paper, the views of the GOP are closer to traditional Christian values than their liberal counterparts. There are many specifics, "log Cabin" republicans, any given scandal, that show Republicans are just as bad, but I'll bet any of the babies murdered through Obama's "Christianity" would have preferred McCain. I wish we had good candidates. We don't. However, why wouldn't you vote for the lesser of two evils? If our choices are to be beaten or to be beaten and set on fire...I think I'd rather just take the beating. Not voting means you voted for the winner. Voting to change Obama by choosing a third party candidate means that you are actually helping Obama to win. The only viable option for change, although only minor, superficial ones, is Romney. Otherwise, you can move overseas and work like I did. |

It's semantics there; six of one or half a dozen of the other. I believe in the restored earth and the Millennial Kingdom, but I also believe in Heaven. I don't believe in the harp playing angels, unless that's what they wanted to play, or that Hell will be the fiery place with the Devil in charge. Much of that did come from mythology and a lot of Dante, but it's nice imagery. It helps people understand that they want to get into Heaven and stay out of Hell. Beyond all the prophecy and church letters, Revelations also describes Heaven quite nicely. It will be a great place for all of us; A new Heaven and a new Earth. |
