I'm not a name it and claim it guy. I won't even go into the whole 'poverty is a curse' thing because there are many people who find themselves homeless and poor who really do or did try to work, but it was their lot in life to be poor. They deserve just as much respect and are just as much children of God as the richest of the rich and powerful. That being said...Jesus wasn't homeless. He had no place to lie his head when he was on 'field missions' such as we say today. He wasn't necessarily unemployed. The disciples had a poor box for those who were in need, and Judas was stealing from it. I'd also point out that he was the one who complained about the expensive anointing oil being "wasted" on Jesus when it could have been sold to help the poor. I don't have the time to look up the verses for you this morning, but you can easily Google them for yourself. I also want to say that some--not all--of the homeless and poor, especially in America, have made bad choices, refuse to work or are suffering from pride. To truly be a street person means that you have alienated every person that you know, maybe even a church or two, or that you are too proud to ask for help. Being poor is another matter as I'm sure most of us are only a couple of paychecks from financial ruin. |

We don't need new laws to stop the homosexual agenda. Look at Matthew 10:16 "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."If you run a business and you don't want homosexuals to sue you, but you don't want their business, then be wise. Plaster your shop with Bible verses, play good Christian music in your lobby, have Bible verses on you business cards and flyers, sell Christian merchandise in your gift shop, and display a large banner that reads "This business supports traditional marriage between one man and one woman for life" or similar. Then, you treat every customer as equal. You stick by your beliefs--if they are true--and let the chips fall where they may. With any luck the homosexuals will ban your shop, but if not, you treat them just as you would any other customer...of course, secular heterosexual couples might avoid your shop too, and that's money a business doesn't want to turn away. Which is where problems with the law come in. If you kick out the homers, but accept adulterers then you are a hypocrite and may be sued. If you are going to be that traditionalist you must "go all in". Otherwise, anyone can be treated as second class--including Christians depending on who owns the business. |

If I had kids I would take them out of the scouts immediately. They could join a church group like AWANA or something similar, so that they are raised in the right way. Don't kid yourself. On paper letting boys be members looks good, but it's the camel's nose in the tent. When these boys grow up into men and want to continue scouting they will say that they attended scouts in their youths without incident. Then the rule will change to a once a scout always a scout type of thing. Then a few years down the line adult gay males who were never scouts will ask for equal treatment, so that they too can be in leadership positions. The scouts, by not standing now, can not be expected to stand when that time comes and there you have the whole camel in your tent. I pray for the kids of America. |

@ Mike and Barry, agreed. The RINO are "evolving" because they are under the illusion that it will get them more votes. What really happens is that conservative Christians just stay home. Romney lost last election, and with 'X' amount fewer votes than McCain had not because he was too liberal, but because he was a Mormon. Many Christians couldn't bring themselves to vote for Romney and that is why we have Obama now. If the Republicans bring a 'Democrat-lite' who has undoubtedly 'evolved' on the issues of 'same-sex marriage' and 'immigration'--but manages to stand firmly against abortion, who do you think will win? When that man loses, how many Republican candidates will then "evolve" on the abortion issues come election 2020? It will finally be time to support the third party candidate and watch him lose even more miserably every four years. On SSM specifically,Christians are at least partially to blame. The support of the condom culture, the problem of pornography, any type of sex outside of marriage, winking at "funny" tv shows and movies that have gay characters and make fun of Christian values, and the high divorce rate among "us" has led to marriage losing its sacredness. We should have been standard bearers, and in many respects we've failed. |

Well, if the Republicans "bow to pressure" and start openly supporting the gay agenda, then I guess I'll have to vote for a third party or abstain. On "bowing to pressure" there may be a vocal minority within the Republican Party that really does pressure the party to consider supporting the gay agenda, but I think most conservatives will be against it. The higher ups are misjudging their primary base of voters. If they are in "say anything to get elected" mode, I think that they are in for a shock. If anything they will do even worse with the conservative Christian voters than they did last election. The issue with Romney and whether or not to vote for him had nothing to do with him being too conservative and everything to do with him being a Mormon. There weren't enough Christians willing to give the Mormon a chance and most stayed home. If the Republican party becomes Democrat Lite then they will lose even more conservative Christian voters, and you can bet that the liberal Democrats won't be switching sides. Why would they want a watered down version of their own party? |
