Nehemiah 8 seems to describe the typical church service today as anything else I have read. (Well... not the duration or the continual standing )

This was not temple worship. It was surely the closest thing we see in the OT to synagogue worship.

(Nehemiah 8:4) And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and...

(Nehemiah 8:8) So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

1. Nowhere does the Bible talk of "accepting Christ". Jesus isn't a hopeful god, anxiously waiting to see if someone will sincerely let him into their heart. He is a great and sovereign Lord who effectually calls His own sheep and draws them unto Himself.

2. You can't possibly know if those folks truly "mean it". Remember the parable of the sower. There were some who initially received the word with joy, but they did not continue (Mt 13:20). So while we rejoice when someone makes a profession of faith, we can't pronounce them saved before their lives have begun to bear fruit.

You seem to have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. I'm glad you went to 1 Cor. 15 for the gospel, but there is much in your posts that gives me pause.

Let me start by saying that God is not "cool". He's holy. That means He's unlike anything or anyone else. He's in a class by himself. Let's use language about Him that demonstrates our awe and wonder. Cars are cool. Clothes may be cool. God transcends such mundane language.

Next, let me beg you to re-examine the history of what is commonly called tongues. It didn't exist in Christian circles 125 years ago. It WAS practiced by Hinduism and other pagan religions.

Also concerning to me is your statement that a man was saved after hearing of someone being healed of sleep problems. Belief in a miracle doesn't equate with belief in the gospel. Belief in a miracle won't change anyone's heart. Belief in the gospel will, because true belief in the gospel will ALWAYS be accompanied by true and perpetual repentance. This brings me to my next point:
