Sometimes, ungodly men can say true things.

And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
(John 11:49-52)

Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men... Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
(Acts 5:34-39)

Good morning brother Rodney,
I have not read Reisinger's 'today's evangelism'....thank you for the suggestion. May the Lord bless you this day, and all of His elect
It's been quite a while since I read it myself, but this conversation brought it to mind. As I recall, it was quite helpful. I just may blow the dust off of it and read it again.

God bless you, too.

Plus the costs of recording to 8-track must be in the sky by now. Such a big market for them.
Silly Mike. The cost of producing 8-track is no problem when you are "monetarily wealthy". See JY's post from (7/27/17 1:12 PM) and you will notice that the first step is to become "monetarily wealthy". After that, it will be easy, because the recording companies will want to take all his money from him... er, help him produce his 8-track album.

@US:

The capital will come from his monetary wealth. Duh.

Sis. Ladybug,

Have you read "Today's Evangelism: Its Message and Methods" by Ernest C. Reisinger?

When Isaiah saw Jesus on His throne, he said, "Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts." (Is. 6:5)

When John the apostle saw the glorified Christ, he "fell at his feet as dead." (Rev. 1:17)

There was not a greater prophet than John the Baptist, who said, "There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose." (Mark 1:7)

You say God is "cool". Do you not see the discrepancy?

Col 1:22 (...free from accusation) is not an excuse to be unteachable.

Rodney, bless you! You will have a great day and many great days to come!
Will you bless me and mock God?! And have you no regard for scripture?

As for my days, that is in His hands, not yours:

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; (Job 14:5)

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; (Acts 17:26)

Kenneth,

You really should quit using mundane language to refer to Almighty God. He is not your equal. He is your Creator. Show some respect.

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. (Psalms 50:21)

For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. (Job 9:32)

Ha! I don't think so bro. After all, not having to buy chairs means more dosh for tracts, doesn't it? Have you seen the price of church chairs today?
We are in the middle of a building program. I have indeed seen the price of chairs. But, my Father's resources are not finite.

John UK wrote:
So you can think of the words you are singing, of course.
Absitively! Posolutely! The words are the most important part and too many times we rush through them at breakneck speed without savoring the truths contained. (I’m guilty.) Of course, that doesn’t mean that we can never sing fast songs. I doubt that the song of Exodus 15 was sung at a somber pace. Perhaps songs of triumph and jubilation should be a bit peppier. Don’t we see that in the Psalms? Psalms of triumph. Psalms of lament. Psalms of doctrine and instruction. Perhaps the music should be fitting with the theme.

God bless you, bro.

Quite right! Because the Bible doesn't prescribe using chairs in worship.

Is this not carrying the regulative principle further than its intent?

The Word is very clear on this. If you are having problems with it, you need to study, you need to pray and you need to seek the Lord's will in the matter.
Mark 16:14-17
14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
...and verse 18:

"They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

These things did follow, but not every believer in every circumstance. These are NOT universal evidences of being a Christian.

Dave, I understand your rage. I mean, look...here I am, educated, unnaturally handsome, physically proportioned, and I have everything going for me as everyone looks on in envy.
Then there's you, you poor kid. Sitting on a park bench surrounded by your aluminium can filled shopping carts with missing wheels, tattered cardboard sign which reads, "Can you spare a nickel,
mate", only all the words are spelled wrong, and your days are spent swatting away the pigeons trying to perch on your nose.
I feel your pain, so you call me whatever you please if it brightens your day even for a moment. Poor fella.
Vegemite, Christopher?

It is written and the Lord Jesus Himself said in Mark 16:15-17 that one of the evidences of being one of His believers is speaking in tongues...
This brings me back to my earlier question about the snakes and deadly poison. If you use Mark 16:15-17 as a proof of being a Christian, then you must use ALL of the text as proof - not just the convenient portion. Muslims love to use this passage against Christians, because they (like you) think that this is a test for true Christianity. Here's a video demonstrating what I mean:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhr1_HehXko

Now here's what Jesus had to say about identifying a true believer:

"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35)

This is a more stringent qualification, and much more difficult to fake. Wouldn't you agree?

A nong is a simple dag, you know a bit touched by the not so smart stick, although in Christopher's case, when he fell out of the tree, he hit every branch on his way down, do he's a special kind of touched on the head, know what I mean?
Why, it all seems so simple when you put it that way. For the life of me, I don't know why I didn't see it before. Maybe c3o and I need a smattering of Vegermite to take care of the problem.
