from article: "The study of 6,500 traveling executives says 35 percent of them would choose their PDA over their spouse."You know me, I am not a fan of polls. Two points. 1) The title of the article is very misleading because it doesn't specify the sample and it could lead people whether on purpose or not to make a too hasty judgment. Especially nowadays where many people comment ONLY on headlines. I am not sure if the term "AVAILABILITY HEURISTIC" is suited for 'headline commenting.' 2) As in all polls, the reader isn't told the exact question that was asked. There are thousands of articles and books and professional papers that describe and explain why people get divorced and it could be that a 'Tech' device came in to fill a void that was ALREADY there. Dozens and dozens of psych and socio books fill bookstore shelves and libraries that describe the phenomenon of the alternate life people actually live in the tech world, i.e. the Internet and any device that "connects" you with the greater digitized world, albeit, as a proxy. |

I think the previous argument suffers from the 'does not follow' fallacy. And it's "more stupid," btw.- - I would love to see someone with courage write whether vaccinations have anything to do with the rise in autism or any other PDD. Someone with access could get the information and compare the number of incidences of ADHD in boys today with those 10 years ago and sort the data to see if there is a co-relation between vaccinations and PDD (Pervasive Development Disorder). This article does NOTHING to explain the cause of the problem and I believe it purposefully disregards possible other causes. This, to me, is evidence of corporate media cover-up. Stress-related ADHD...possible? Sure. The question is: How probable? I know that Big-Pharma makes billions selling their drugs but when is enough, ENOUGH! Seems having a population of sick people is better for the economy than being blessed with physical health. |

from article: "Kroon said the media are to be 'cherished and respected.'"Making a statement like this WITHOUT conditions is foolish and it shows this pastor's either ignorance or complicity or both! Google video has: ORWELL ROLLS IN HIS GRAVE I watched the actual DVD and it is a fair survey of what the media, particularly, Broadcast Television, really is--a technological technique of COVERING UP (creating an alternate reality) what really is happening in so-called, Government. Is television bad? Depends on what you think television is. I forget who Jerry Mander interviewed in his book, Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television, but I think it was someone from TV Guide, who said, 'The purpose of television is not for the programs (the shows), it is for the Ads (advertisements).' No ads, no show. In politics, the show is the ad and the ad is the show. IOW, politicians and their ideas are the 'products' you need that will make you happy. |

hidemi williges wrote: What no replies? You make accusations but can't afford the courtesy to reply to my answers. What was my accusation?I asked 3 "YES" "NO" questions. You did not answer them--you made your own question about 'harming a loved one.' Therefore, I do not owe you the courtesy of: A) responding to you as if you control me, B) furthering the discussion because you will not answer straightforward questions. Quote all the scripture you want. The "affairs of God" IS the affairs of men. True Christians are to bring a higher moral power to all men and ideologies. Here are my accusations: * You seem to parrot what MSM and maybe your church tells you what TRUTH is without doing your own research. You seem to be under the illusion that the President is some kind of spiritual leader to obey because God put him there. The form of government in the time of the apostles is NOT THE SAME AS HERE IN THE U.S. In the U.S., it is the rule of law that is the government--NOT D.C.! |

Dr. Phil wrote: What would be more shocking is if US Courts would site the Constitution. Con...Consti....Constitu...Con-sti-tu-tion.* * What's that? * * I remember learning long ago about the 'power of government of the United States rests with the people.' But because I'm not rich and was not sired in an elite bloodline, I was told I needed someone who is rich to tell me how to think, how to live, and what to believe in. This started in 'church' believe it or not! This consti..too... thing you mentioned (boy, without practice it's a hard word to say!) sounds like something we should go back to before it's too late. When I think about it, Romans 13 for American citizens applies to each individual to honor and respect one another with mercy and compassion based on the will of God and NOT to relinquish this duty to anyone else. Times up! I have to go back and be a sheep, now. But thanks for mentioning the "C" thing. I hope someone does not come and arrest you for saying the "C" word. |

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 - - - Interesting, what "sold" me on the idea of Christianity when attending 'church' for the first time was the pastor's excitement about this Romans passage. What got me out of the Charasmatic and Word Faith 'movement' was, THE SAME VERSE.RE: "pray the gay away" Can one "pray away": diabetes? Or an addiction to Internet Porn? Or a debt? Or an abusive friend, co-worker, spouse, or how about--a 'worker in Christ' supposedly. The answer is, "NO!" The words "transform" and "renew" are on the same side of a coin, if you will. No one should invite someone to the idea that his problems--his life situation--can change if he simply prays. Prayer works because GOD works on behalf of the soul who cries out to HIM. If you are struggling with something, ask (beg, implore, make real confession of personal sins to) God for forgiveness, admit your shortcomings as He reveals them to you (an ongoing process) and trust and believe that He is for the caring of you--not to succeed in life, but to grow in His grace towards perfect holiness until He comes back. |
