"As inhabitants of this country we all have a role to play in shaping our society on the basis of one fundamental principle and that is understanding."

* Pray tell...how does one know, rather, how does a group of people know WHEN 'understanding' has been achieved?

This kind of foolish talk reminds me of the 'goals' that I had to pursue as a paraprofessional in public schools.

"The future surely lies in rediscovering the universal truths that dwell at the heart of these religions."

* If you believe that these 'truths' exist, why not tell us what they are? And, if these truths are KNOWN and are 'universal,' why do they need to be 'rediscovered?' They exist regardless of where humans are in their understanding.

Recalling once again my time in PS: We must allow children to rediscover the joy of reading and ensure a conducive environment that leads to independent pursuits of reading and reading materials that will build upon their growing knowledge of the world around them thus providing society with future leaders who are masters of this earth's destiny.

I'm paraphrasing, of course!

Not to nitpick like an Underground Grammarian (Richard Mitchell) wannabe, but reading the first paragraph without careful attention seems like "the higher being" had 2 days during an "evolution weekend" in which he/it 'created' man.

It would have been better if it were stated:

Hundreds of churches this week *as part of Evolution Weekend* will revisit the question of whether man evolved from lower order species or was created whole by a higher being.

Now I cannot help but wonder IF...

Also, God is NOT merely a "higher being" so this 'debate' is itself debatable or moot. If churches so-called engage in this discussion without proclaiming how God revealed Himself in scripture (as the I AM), they would be committing the fallacy of false dilemma.

Again, I cannot help but wonder IF...

("IF" what, you ask? Figure it out)

"Evolve Beyond Belief."

Okay.
*How? Is it by eliminating every aspect of religion in public life by law and/or force and requiring submission to some MAN?

*To where or what end, specifically? Is this a manifold evolution involving ECONOMICS (Marxist communism?); all TEACHING INSTITUTIONS (Liberalism with the allowance for radical individualism stressing no moral standard and group collectivism promoting a common belief and value system?); and POLITICS (the group of god-men/women with anointing from each other ruling over the un-initiated?)

*Why?
Does it ever occur to these evolutionists that maybe, JUST MAYBE, religion IS PART OF THE EVOLUTION PROCESS AND THAT ATHEISM IS NOT MEANT TO SURVIVE? By their own argument, todays modern darwinians were not around 100,000 years ago and CANNOT possibly presume that they are THE FIT to survive.

Darwinism MEANS EUGENICS. These so-called elite are such cowards that they will NEVER say in public what they really think and so they come up with tritely inane slogans so as not to offend. COWARDS!

Depending on your outlook on life, this study's finding is like the "pot calling the kettle black."

Individuals form/ join gangs not only for the sole reason of "family breakdown" although it is, like many other things, a contributing factor.

Public schools, particular teacher unions insist on NOT EDUCATING students with objective facts leading to information which encourages analytical thought which leads to a sound judgment of life but INSTEAD approach "theories" of learning over formal instruction of skills, i.e., reading, mathematics, history, LOGIC, etc.

A similar question as an analogy to the article topic would be:

Do my parents drink because I'm a loser, or am I loser because my parents drink?

Of course, the Bible instructs that learning of TRUTH varies directly with HOLINESS. You can't have one without the other.

Google:

COED SHOWERS IN COLLEGE

- - -

The University system, whether private or public, is a joke and an affront to decency. Back in the late 90's, many have written about the so-called NEW ESTABLISHMENT and their (plural because it involves not just feminists and socialists, but this ideology is cut from a motley assortment of Self-Godhood) literal takeover of every former aspect of the OLD Establishment, i.e., a moral ethic in work and social life.

Morality being relative, I suppose this is called PROGRESS.

Not to sound too cynical, but this is like:

- a soldier in Iraq who says, "I could have killed 10 civilians, but I only killed 8.

- a banker who says, "I could have given myself a 10 million dollar bonus for the "work" I did with the bailouts, but I only gave myself 8.5 million dollars.

- a priest who says, "I could have screwed them all, but I just did the ones with low self-esteem."

- - -

A just God shall administer justice to each individual and each individual will receive his due on the Last Day when final judgment takes place.

The ubiquitous opinions of celebrities and famous people is one manifestation of the abomination of desolation.

The effect of which is that the masses choose to believe such opinions not with a standard of any absolute but with the opinion-maker's personality (likeability).

The further effect is that TRUTH can't be found anywhere!

There is a company called:

S.L.U.T. Cosmetics.

and it is NOT a line for dolls.

The target 'demographic' for marketers and advertisers seem to be getting younger and younger. It's all about "branding" at a young age.

Let's see, it is a crime to hire a hitman, or even 'plan' to hire a hitman, but it is okay to give death certificates to be used on innocent people. Hmmmmmm?

This'll make a good Christmas present. NOT!

What's next, BOGOF? (Buy one get one free or fifty percent off) Or should I say, MONKOTH--Murder One, Next Kill On The House?

They should make a movie for this:

For an example of Hegelian dialect, read the last statements of the article following:

"Shermer followed up, asking Giberson, then why believe in God at all?"
- -

Again, no scientific evidence of what someone has observed as opposed to what one's opinion is based on 'popular' (so-called) opinion has been explained.

Regarding the title of the argument God assured His children of the following:

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
- - -
Since the fall of man, evil has always co-existed with righteousness; lies with truth; bad with good; all the way to the LAST DAY.

Banned and Sentinel:

Like those who defend Evolution, Global warming, and overpopulation, the other posters do not offer any evidence to the contrary. I don't know all the details of what Banned wrote but I do know these problems exist.

So. Two responses usually happen by the like.
1) "I am not going to waste my time with 'conspiracy' theories."

2) "If what you say were true, it would be reported on TV. Therefore, it isn't true."

I don't know how computer viruses work but I do know that IF one has a personal computer, he absolutely NEEDS to protect himself against 'inivisible' threats. If a computer user always uses someone else's computer (library or school or friend), he will ASSUME unless he is told that that computer is 'protected,' there is no such thing as webbots, worms, viruses, spyware, etc. because he never EXPERIENCED first hand what a 'computer takeover' is or an extremely slow running computer.

Ignorance is NOT BLISS...It is unbiblical to purposefully remain stupid and moreso, to NOT WARN others of the dangers we ALL face.

Now. If you have evidence that:
MSG, Aspartame, vaccines, etc., are NOT HARMFUL, please tell us what you know in a mature, responsible fashion knowing that you ARE RESPONSIBLE for what you say. Don't bear false witness.

from article: The popular online matchmaker has been sued before for discrimination.
- - -

So. A married man cannot get a hearing but this sodomite and another female sodomite can sue for discrimination.

Okay. Does eHarmony have a 'place' for transgenders? for transgenics? for animal 'lovers?' for multipartners? for children?

If not, why don't THESE perverts sue also?!?!?

He [the Mayor] continued, "I think we got elected to stand up for the idea that in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of God, thou shalt not discriminate."
- - -
from m-w.com

Etymology: Latin discriminatus, past participle of discriminare, from discrimin-, discrimen distinction, from discernere to distinguish between

2: to make a difference in treatment or favor on a basis other than individual merit
- - -

Male-female marriages are given distinction because they can procreate. Sodomites cannot--they just defile.

from article: "We are the American family, we live next door to you, we teach your children, we take care of your elderly," said Heather Baker...

- - -

"We commit sodomy; our hearts are hardened; we cannot think 'straight' about morality and ethics; we are the penultimate example (just behind Satan himself) of abomination; we choose to put objects in our bodily orifices NOT CREATED for such purposes and, -AMMIT, I hate those who oppose my SEX actions because it makes me feel like I am going to be punished later which makes me even more angry NOW; we do not seek "equal" rights--we want ALL of yours because to us it is like ancient cultures who ate the hearts and brains of their victims in war or sacrifice; we will NOT STOP our movement toward perdition for this is what gives us hope of a 'better' tomorrow which is our ONLY hope; along with NOMINAL CHRISTIANS, we are doing something that exhibits true love and tolerance (which is the same) INSTEAD of childishly believing in someone whom neither you nor I can SEE!"

"Please join us in our protests--we will have rainbow sherbert and rainbow cake afterwards. Mmmmmmmmm"

I think that people who are intrigued with trivial cause-effect phenomena, are more likely to write idiotic reports which they think will eventually make them and their research legendary and that ignorant people will not only spend time discussing the 'interestingness' of it, the same will be trained to ignore more important issues dealing with the tragedies of this life.
