EA: "where in scripture are we commanded to 'honor' Mary?
----Resp: The 10 Commandments -"Thou shalt honor thy Mother...". When Jesus gave Mary for St John to care for, he gave her to all men - "Son behold thy Mother...Mother thy son...".  EA: "Where in scripture does it say 'saints' intervene on our behalf?
----Resp: Jesus commands his followers to "Pray for one another". He didn't add, "Stop praying when you die!". VaR: "If you can't find it in the Bible it isn't true."
----Resp: Then Auto repair, Science, History, Mathematics, Theories of Issacc Newton, and thousands of other things too numberous to mention must be lies. Get Real! Shofar: The average Pope has been a very 'down to earth' and practical leader. They couldn't have parish Church property divided up between the surviving sons and daughters of their dead and dying priests. Also, in order to serve God and his people, a priest must be able to go where his is sent without a lot of entanglements. DJC49: "The Trinity...can be decisively...proven from Scripture WITHOUT.."Sacred Tradition."
----Resp: Then why were several early heresies about the nature of God? No where in the bible does the bible say that the bible is all that is needed for teaching. H. Tradition is God's word too. |

EA: "Christ WAS the propitiation on the cross". True! The Father's wrath is satified with Jesus' death. Now Jesus has all Authority. It is he who commands our obedience by his rules.
My point to TCP exactly. Furthermore, the statues and icons in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches are not idols, since no one who understands his faith and has more than two brain cells to rub together, will worship a dead plaster likeness of any being. But, Prots...every ready to misunderstand our intent, and never interested in explainations, will always leap to conclusions if it means converting a few more confused souls and that they can play 'holier than thou' for folks back home. Where narrow minds are concerned, ridicule is never unwarranted. "And His central attribute would be ... what?" Does the most perfect being in the Universe have one central attribute?
Omniscience, Omnipotence, Perfect Justice, Perfect Peace, Perfect Love, immortal, white hair, blue eyes, size 13 feet....?????? Preacherjond: You really are depriving some village of an under-achiever! |

TCP, you demonstrate perfectly what is wrong with most "on fire" bible believers and why the secular world fails to take you seriously. Reading and understanding Gods word does not imply putting your God-given common-sense in the trash can. How many people make their livings by producing images of one kind or another? This would include images on computers, websites, photographs, wood carvings, oil paintings, newspapers, magazines, forms, etc. If you want to be taken seriously, please open you wallet and divest yourself of any drivers license, credit card, pictures of wife or kids, then go home any throw away all of your pictures on the wall...including the ones with Jesus on them. These days, text could also be considered an image. Oh yea...this website is full of images.
Could it be that God merely wants us to avoid worshipping false images of dead rock and wood? Could it be? Nah! Obviously your god wants you to live in a dark cave and throw spears at your dinner. To the contrary, I was not upset at your little bible verse, I found your interpretation of it to be amusing. Also, I scarsely notice the statues in my Church. This is because I worship the real God in spirit, not some obnoxious Prots notion of a false one. |

Here are some last thoughts. The English have been in Ireland for centuries, there has been inter-marriage and sexual-contact for long enough that many inhabitants of the Emerald Isle are as English as they are Irish. How ironic that (assuming that you are Scottish) you would call people yearning to be free from oppression, "misty eyed dreamers". The English have used the Scots as "robot warriors" ever since the Jacobite wars. The Scots have rarely known freedom. As for Vietnam, I owe it to my countrymen who served, to defend their honor. The Vietnamese Commies are scum. With the help of world-wide Communism and the "Useful Idiots" of Europe, they killed and subjugated the free people of Vietnam. We have millions of them living here now, rather than see them killed by the Reds. Therefore, with the worldwide help of all Lefties and in the face of fear and treason at home, they managed to defeat our chicken-livered leaders in the Democratic party and the shallow-minded citizens of this great land . But, our Military was never...never...never defeated by the NVA nor the VC in the field and if left to their own inclinations, the American Military would have cleaned out the North like the vermin they are. Nuff said! |
