Some Realism . . you might consider reading:

* A Rebuke of the Manhattan Declaration Signers Pastor Ralph Ovadal

http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details3.asp?ID=22887

"The Manhattan Declaration is an ungodly manifesto, contemptuous of the blood and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is an ecumenical treatise, complete with a Romish gospel and shot through and through with popish error. Those evangelicals who have authored this document and who have led the way in signing it show themselves to be in rebellion to God. It is, in their case, a brazen manifesto of treason against the Lord Jesus Christ. And they are not friends but rather are enemies of Christian liberty in that they disobey and provoke the Author of liberty with their spiritual fornication, even wresting His word and corrupting His blood-bought church. It is the biblical duty of all faithful Christian pastors to stand against the evangelical authors of the Manhattan Declaration and all evangelicals who sign it or promote it in any way. Such betrayers of Christ and His church must be separated from and called to account by all faithful Christian ministers and people.

So, you have no problem with yoking yourself to Roman Catholics, or post-modern types? As long as it is for the 'common good', right? Let me ask you, how does change come to a society that is spiraling down the broad road; is it not the preaching of the Gospel? Why isn't the Gospel laid out in this document? Could it be that so many differ on their views of what the true Gospel is? We should just overlook that 'minor detail', as long as we all join hands and sing kumbaya, it'll be okay? I for one praise God for men like John MacArthur, who aren't afraid to take a stand against ecumenism."

Amen & Amen!

I believe they call that . . "finding the lowest denominator on which to agree", which is agreeable to those who advocate for "political correctness", but not for those who advocate for the unchanging TRUTH of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Both my wife and I are saved by a gracious Lord from this truly awful system.

AMEN Patrick! Though we must never forget . . they are "blind leaders of the blind" (Matt. 15:14)

Both my husband and I were as well delivered by God's marvellous grace from serving our idols that we might serve the living and true God! (1 Thess. 1:9)

And Amen to your comment as well Cliff Leckey!

I thank God every day for the "childlike" faith (Matt. 18:3) His Spirit has wrought in me to rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ, my Saviour and my God, and pray for those at Sermon Audio whom we know are yet blinded by the false gospel of Rome that they too might have the light of the knowledge of God in the face of Jesus Christ shined into their hearts!
(II Cor. 4:6) There but by the grace of God go I . . we! (1 Cor. 15:10)

“The Pope’s Plans on Organizing Political, Economic, and Religious Activities Worldwide.”
by: Richard Bennett / Oct. 14, 2009
“The Pope’s latest encyclical can read like an ideological bombshell. However, when we study papal history with its obsession for global power, it is not so shocking. The Papacy has an agenda for the United Nations, economic institutions, and international finance organizations. The Pope has called for the crafting of a new governmental body above these groups and intends that the new body be equipped with enforcement power on a startling scale. Much more sobering is the detailed body of Roman Catholic social doctrine on which the encyclical is built and which the Papacy is in the process of instituting secularly. These documents need to be analyzed and rejected before nations and peoples unwittingly concede both temporal and religious control to the Vatican. We have outlined the heart of the major tactics found in the body of Roman Catholic social doctrine, which includes the Pope’s latest encyclical. We consider this to be one of the more important analyzes we have done. I ask therefore that you forward the article to many Christians who need to take heed."

“Ian Paisley praises Sinn Fein over Northern Ireland power-sharing”
*******

I know of at least one God fearing Servant of the Lord and many in solidarity with him in the Gospel of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, who lament over these very things.

A sermon by Ivan Foster, Retired Senior Pastor, Kilskeery FPC, N.I.
'Ulster Crisis - 2006 - 2008
Disappointments and Distresses'

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=11120961590

A brief synopsis:
Rev. Foster recalls the early days of the formation of the FPC as times of blessing and traces the central role FPC founder Ian Paisley played in the politics of N.I. in later years
that led to the "abandonment of prayer meetings for board meetings" and the bitter harvest of division and strife it reaped in its aftermath within the denomination.

The heaviness of heart & deep sorrow with which this man of God solemnly recounts these tragic events is very much reminiscent of the prophet Jeremiah, whose burden it was to denounce the sin of Judah accompanied by weeping and lamentations over them.

brief biographical sketch . . "A.W. Richard Sipe is devoted full time to research into the sexual and celibate practices of Roman Catholic bishops and priests. Sermon:
Ulster Crisis - 2006-2008
Rev. Ivan Foster
2
comments
“ A Challenging & Poignant Sermon ”
In this heartfelt sermon, Ivan Foster examines the commission Christ expressly assigned to His Church of preaching the gospel (Mark 16:15) in the context of the Free Pres.Church's emerging role in the politics of N.I.& the inherent conflict of interest it represents & the bitter harvest of both division & strife it produced in its aftermath within the body of Christ. The heaviness of heart with which this man of God solemnly recounts the tragic events that culminated in the present power-sharing government of N.I. is very much reminiscent of the prophet Jeremiah, whose burden it was to denounce the sin of Judah accompanied by weeping & lamentations over them. An instructive message of significance & relevance that crosses denominational lines to those within the professing church of Jesus Christ, who have embraced the leaven of wordliness and forsaken the “old paths” (Jer. 6:16)& are reposing their trust in the arm of flesh and not in the “arm of the Lord.” (II Chron. 32:7-8) Ivan Foster poignantly reproves those who have undermined the cause of Christ in so doing, by prayerfully exhorting them to repent and return unto their first love. (Rev. 1-3) "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." Rev. 3:22

The author of this article makes reference to Gen. 1:26 when he writes:

“ . . . . extremely alien-looking aliens would be hard to fit with the idea that God “made man in his own image”.”

Jamieson, Fausett, and Brown's Commentary on Gen. 1:26

“God said, Let us make man . . . . in our image, after our likeness--This was a peculiar distinction, the value attached to which appears in the words being twice mentioned. And in what did this image of God consist? Not in the erect form or features of man, not in his intellect, for the devil and his angels are, in this respect, far superior; not in his immortality, for he has not, like God, a past as well as a future eternity of being; but in the moral dispositions of his soul, commonly called original righteousness (Ecclesiastes 7:29). As the new creation is only a restoration of this image, the history of the one throws light on the other; and we are informed that it is renewed after the image of God in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness (Colossians 3:10, Ephesians 4:24).”

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Cor. 2:14

"Ye must be born again" . . "of the Spirit" John 3:3-8

Rome's Geopolitical Goal - by: Rev. Angus Stewart - Covenant Prot. Ref. Church of Ballymena, N.I. - Part Three
Link: http://www.cprf.co.uk/articles/romeandpolitics.htm#9

EXCERPT:
“In the typical Antichristian Roman Empire of the past, all roads led to Rome. In the Antichristian Roman Church of the present, all churches and religions lead to Rome. In the Antichristian kingdom of the future, Rome will lead all churches and religions to the beast.

But do not fear! Hold fast to the truth of God’s Word! Beware of all false doctrine and worship from whatever source. By God’s grace, guard against even the beginning of apostasy. The Lord Jesus will soon return with His mighty angels to take vengeance on Antichrist and the false church and all who obey not the gospel. Christ shall forever be admired in all who believe and all our tears will be wiped away (II Thess. 1:7-10; Rev. 21:4)!”

Rome's Geopolitical Goal - by: Rev. Angus Stewart - Covenant Prot. Ref. Church of Ballymena, N.I. - Part Two
Link: http://www.cprf.co.uk/articles/romeandpolitics.htm#9

EXCERPT:
“Certainly, papal Rome bas been central in “Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots” (Rev. 17) and the false prophet (Rev. 13:11-18) in the history of the New Testament church age. . . .
If this analysis is correct, we would expect Rome to become more and more the leader of apostate Christendom and paganism, until eventually it assimilates all religions to itself—apart from the worship of those written in the Lamb’s book of life! Rome will doubtless experience ups and downs and will respond to changing world events from time to time and from situation to situation as it deems will best gain its purpose. (18)

This would mean too that Rome’s religious and geopolitical goal is also its destiny, according to God’s eternal decree. But just when the Babylonian harlot and the false prophet are at their most powerful, they will be destroyed according to the just judgment of the Almighty (Rev. 17:16-17; 19:20).”

John - UK . . I thought you would find the commentary by Rev. Angus Stewart of the Covenant Prot. Ref. Church of Ballymena, N.I. regarding the future of interest.

Article:

Rome's Geopolitical Goal – Part One
Link: http://www.cprf.co.uk/articles/romeandpolitics.htm#9
EXCERPT:

"So what does the future hold? Before the triumphant return of Jesus Christ, the worldwide kingdom of Antichrist will be established (Rev. 13; 17; 18). The final Antichristian kingdom will have traits like those of Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon, the Medo-Persian Empire, Alexander the Great’s Greece and the Roman Empire (Rev. 13:1-2; cf. Dan. 7). All will be required to worship the beast (Antichrist), including the (apostate) visible church (Rev. 13:11-18; II Thess. 2:3-4). (17)

Given the age, size, wealth and power of the Holy See; its history of political alliances and intrigue; and its policies and success in false ecumenism and syncretism; it is in a unique position to unite all churches and religions in the worship of the beast. No serious contender for this role is evident in our day. Also, Rome’s theology and worship is a “good fit,” for it is a peculiar amalgam of “Christianity” (II Thess. 2:3-4; I John 2:18-19; 4:1-6) and humanism (“the number of the beast is the number of … man;” Rev. 13:

Please don't misunderstand what I have said concerning my conversion, John. I am not trusting in the "dramatic nature" of my conversion, but rather in Christ who brought it about. Nor do I question the authenticity of others who share their testimony.

I endeavor rather to make my calling and election sure, and pray daily for grace to that end, for as you have said in so many words, it is "the evidence of grace and faith in the life" that testify to the genuine nature of our conversion.

I trust too that by God's grace, I am "growing in grace", for it is God that worketh in me to will and to do of His good pleasure (II Pet. 3:18; Phil. 2:13)

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" (Phil. 1:6)

"It is a wonderful thing that we are all different, and have differing experiences of conversion; some dramatic as a storm, and others gentle as a falling snowflake. And yet all have things in common, particularly that we come to believe in and know a living Jesus, and bow the knee to him, having been born of the Spirit, and enlightened as to the truth of his cross."

Amen John!

John,
I must confess in all honesty, prior to my conversion I was very much taken up with the world. My interests, my pursuits, my affections were all tied to the things of this world. I was carnally minded & walked after the flesh. (Rom. 8:6) At that time, I was w /o Christ & w /o God & hope in the world & was ALIENATED from the Commonwealth of Israel & a stranger to the covenants of promise. (Eph. 2:12) I was the enemy of God (Rom.5:10)

My experience tallies more with John Newton in his unregenerate state who wrote:
“In evil long I took delight, Unawed by shame or fear, Till a new object struck my sight, and stopp'd my wild career . . .
Thus, while His death my sin displays In all its blackest hue, Such is the mystery of grace, It seals my pardon too.”
Even as the Lord stopped the wild career of John Newton, so he did with me.

Now I am, as was said of Abraham, His friend too. (James 2:23) Now my affections are set on things above and not on the earth. (Col. 3) Now I walk after the spirit, not after the flesh and in newness of life as the new creature in Christ which God has made me to be! (Rom. 8:1-4; Rom. 6:4; 2 Cor. 5:17)

I am now as are all who walk by faith, a “stranger and a pilgrim” on the earth.” (Heb. 11:13)

Timely thoughts from a Christian now in glory!

Christians On Earth Live As ALIENS . . . Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"Thus the life of the Christian community in the world bears permanent witness to the truth that “the fashion of this world passeth away” (1 Cor 7:31), that the time is short (1 Cor 7:29) and the Lord is nigh (Phil 4:5). This thought fills them with joy unspeakable (Phil 4:4). The world is growing too small for the Christian community, and all it looks for is the Lord’s return. It still walks in the flesh , but with eyes upturned to heaven, whence he for whom they wait will come again. In the world the Christians are a colony of the true home, they are strangers and ALIENS in a foreign land, enjoying the hospitality of that land, obeying its laws and honouring its government. . . . . . They live their own life under ALIEN rulers and ALIEN laws. Above all, they pray for all in authority, for that is their greatest service. But they are only passing through the country. At any moment they may receive the signal to move on. Then they will strike tents, leaving behind them all their worldly friends and connections, and following only the voice of their Lord who calls. They leave the land of their exile, and start their homeward trek to heaven."

Rome's unbiblical theories concerning Creation

Vatican Says Alien Life May Exist / 8-23-06

Rev. Funes (current director of the Vatican Observatory) said science does not contradict religion, touching on a theme of Pope Benedict XVI, who has made exploring the relationship between faith and reason a key aspect of his papacy. The Bible "is not a science book," Rev. Funes said, adding that he believes the Big Bang theory is the most "reasonable" explanation for the creation of the universe.

GG, Don't look now but the Vatican's Tin-foil helmet is showing.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Interview: Fr. José Gabriel Funes
Extraterrestrials

In an interview in May 2008[1] he stated that the possible existence of intelligent extraterrestrials did not contradict church teaching[2][3] and ruling out the existence of aliens would be like "putting limits" on God's creative freedom.[4] He has speculated that such alien life forms could even be “free from Original Sin … [remaining] in full friendship with their creator.”[5] Funes' statements have clearly similar points to what the Vatican's Corrado Balducci also previously has expressed.

The unbiblical nature of the Catholic Lutheran Accord and the apostasy that it represents is examined in the light of Scripture by Richard Bennett, former R.C. priest here:
http://www.bereanbeacon.org/articles/sorted/05_False_Ecumenism/The_Catholic_Lutheran_Accord.pdf

“Since he was cursed who rebuilt Jerico, much more the man who labors to restore Popery among us. In our fathers’ days the gigantic walls of Popery fell by the power of their faith,
the perseverance of their efforts, and the blast of their gospel trumpets; and now there are some who would rebuild that accursed system upon its old foundation. O Lord, be pleased to
thwart their unrighteous endeavors, and pull down every stone, which they build. It should be a serious business with us to be thoroughly purged of every error which may have a tendency
to foster the spirit of Popery; and when we have made a clean sweep at home we should seek in every way to oppose its all to rapid spread abroad in the church and in the world.” (C.H.S.)

As R. Bennett has pointed out, the prayer of C. H. Spurgeon expressed in his Devotional above on Joshua 6:26 is a most urgent one in our day.
