I can’t imagine anyone “worshipping” the Constitution. A ridiculous notion, and the only reason it was brought up in the first place was to disparage America and Americans—AGAIN!—and to pick a fight. (All the while keeping one’s mind on things above, of course.) As the estimable Nero Wolfe would say, “Pfui.”
Well, Stevenr, some folks say that Matthew is really a continuation of the Old Testament way of doing things. That’s mighty handy for them if they want to claim that tithing is foreign to the New Testament. Whether this lady is saved or not is, as a famous (or infamous) fella said “Above my paygrade.” That she isn’t right with God and is a candidate for church discipline, however, is beyond question. She should be dealt with scripturally, like any other fallen church member. Nada mas y nada menos.
Jim, did you enlist voluntarily in the Army, or were you drafted? Did you serve one minute longer than you had to? Above all, did you refuse to accept a paycheck for your service?
Yes, Chrisgp, even in the best of times offerings can be lean in third-world countries. In more affluent nations, tightwads who want to steal God’s money will always find an excuse for doing so.
Jim, I sincerely apologize for my last remark. I didn’t realize that the disparaging comment regarding our Constitution was made by our brother dwelling on the wart in the armpit of what was once “Great” Britain. If I lived there I’d probably have no regard for my nation either.
Well, Jim, one can be sure it isn’t your Democratic “brethren” who hold the Constitution in high esteem. They’re doing everything in their power to destroy it. May the bird of paradise fly up their nose.
Well, Neil, at least you answered my question. You really CAN’T refrain from being insulting and condescending. I understand. I have many besetting sins. You are blessed indeed if haughtiness is the only one you have.
Neil, who said I wasn’t talking about the Waldenses, Lollards and similar groups? I didn’t mention Anabaptists. You did. I would appreciate it if you could respond occasionally without being insulting and condescending. Others, believe it or not, are as well-read as you are. Or more so.
True fundamental Baptists reject the term Protestant not because they embrace Catholicism, but because unlike the Presbyterians, Lutherans, and other such groups, the true fundamental Baptistic churches didn’t leave Catholicism in protest. They were never a part of Romanism in the first place.
Wow! Why didn’t someone tell God that our sins could be excused simply by “affirming” them? And to think that He let His Son die such a horrific death when affirmation was all that was needed.
Jim, do you find it odd that President Trump condemned the rioting, burning and looting from the outset, but Hidin’ Biden didn’t say a word about it until he checked to see which way the polls were going?
Jim, I suggest you read I Kings 8:22-66 and II Chronicles 6:1-7:3. There is absolutely no biblical proscription against public praying. What is forbidden is praying publicly solely for the purpose of “showing off.” By “intercity charities,” I suppose you meant inner city. You yourself, of course, spend many hours each week volunteering for such groups, right? That’s why you have so little time to look up garbage in the Internet and post it on Sermon Audio. By the way, do you have something against rural charities?
