The scary thing about "modern churchianity" is that the world sees no difference between the bride of Christ and paganism because of the lack of biblical preaching in America. This kind of so-called Christian practice does not call for self-denial...it is self-indulgent. It needs to be shunned.
I cannot believe that God will throw sinners in hell and say to them on judgement day(with all due reverence)"Even though I love you, I have to torture you through all eternity and separate you from my goodness forever". We sadly have a one-sided view of God.
I personally believe that there are many sheep without earthly shepherds but always guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice". Praise God it is that way because not many of us are theologians or exegetes of scripture.
