Evangelicals frustrated by Obama's 'Gay Pride' decree
President Obama Monday named June as "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month" issuing a proclamation that goes even further than those of former President Clinton in its pro-homosexuality slant.

Evangelicals voiced strong disagreement with Obama's proclamation, much like they did in 1999 when Clinton issued his proclamation and Southern Baptist Convention messengers responded by passing a resolution rebuking Clinton for doing so.

"For a president who pledged to bring us together, Mr. Obama persists in doing the exact opposite on all things homosexual," Bob Stith, the Southern Baptist national strategist for gender issues and representative of the denomination's Task Force on Ministry to Homosexuals, told Baptist Press. "This issue for most evangelical Christians is not bias or prejudice. It is simply maintaining the freedom to speak the truth about Scripture. It is one thing to be ...

I recently touched on the subject of President Obama's LGBT pride month declaration in the context of a sermon on the biblical view of "cross-dressing" and gender bending.

I personally believe that there are many sheep without earthly shepherds but always guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice". Praise God it is that way because not many of us are theologians or exegetes of scripture.

From the article:
"The LGBT rights movement has achieved great progress, but there is more work to be done," Obama's proclamation reads. "During LGBT Pride Month, I call upon the LGBT community, the Congress, and the American people to work together to promote equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2009 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month."

Blah, Blah, Blah ...

So what is your position RE: Obama's 'Gay Pride' decree ??? ---
Is your answer for us to just join the Hell-bent party ??? ... ... I think not !!!

Was your father Adam in the Garden, or did you evolve from ape or the primordial mass?

Every son of the flesh was in Adam. The son of your father is your brother.

And, if you are really interested in what Scripture says about "law and mercy" do a search of your own. I am well aware of your friend *HYH*'s tactic, and you are using the same. Yours is just a game, with no serious intent to find truth. If you really wanted truth, you would search it out, and not ask an unknown person in another country to give you the answer.

You are disingenuous in asking the question. So, there is no reason for me to indulge your question with a response. But, I might suggest that you look at the intent of the law when you do your search. Jesus railed against the Pharisees for "straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel." I would keep that in mind while I busied myself in a search for the principles delineated in Scripture.

Dear Brothers and Sisters on Sermon Audio,
This article made me feel very sad. I am sad that such a false view of human sexuality and a false view of equality and a false view of compassion has been put into play and honored by the President. I have been reading the Book of Jeremiah with my family, and we see that idolatry and repudiation of God is a terrible sin. Unfortunately we are on a downwasrd spiral. The downward spiral will have consequences. Believe me, I don't want to suffer the dreadful consequences that such unrighteous leadership brings on a nation. However, as we pray daily, "Thy will be done...." Our preacher yesterday preached on TULIP and honored John Calvin on his upcoming 500th birthday. I was SO encouraged by that Word, and I hope and pray that all of you will likewise be encouraged in your hearts and souls as you contemplate God's sovereignty, justice, and love (a love based on eternal values originating in the Godhead).
Bless you all.

Please give me scripture for 'truth without mercy is the law?'.Ephesians 2 v8&9,'For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God.Not of works lest any man should boast'.
Every man is not my brother in the flesh?

Truth without mercy is the Law. Is that what you want? Because apart from Jesus Christ, you will be judge according to the Law.
You've heard of the "good Samaritan?" Jesus told the parable of a man who had been beaten and robbed and was lying in the road, nearly dead. While, the Pharisee, the religious leader, passed by the man, and did not help, nor did his countryman, it was the stranger, the one who had no reason to help, other than a heart of compassion that constrained him to rescue the man. You sound like the Pharisee. There is a stern warning from the Lord, "Woe unto you scribes and hypocrits, white-washed sepulchres, full of dead men's bones."
Take heed! Every man is your brother in the flesh. Born again believers are brothers of a divine nature and are inheritors of a spiritual kingdom along with Jesus Christ. You do not sound like you are yet a born again believer.

That's right, Mike, but they CAN be led into heresy by false teachers, and those who are not yet saved can be confused with the teaching of the charlatans! The Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses indoctrinated my sister with their false teaching.

Over and over, we are told to "be not deceived by false teachers" and to beware of false brethren, who god is their belly. Jude says, "These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever."

Well, these of whom Jude speaks are alive and kicking on the SA boards. !!!

Satan was a "murderer" from the beginning, and all who would incite hatred toward any person or group of people is suspect of who their father is. Jesus said that Satan was the "father" of the Pharisees. He also said, "if you hate your brother, you are a murderer."

Because jj, I'm sure a lot of people on this post as well as many Christians across this fair land have built mega-churches with hugh monthly bills that have to be paid. If they talk about 501c3's and the like they will be talking about themselves!!! If they make parishioners mad than that's less people in the seats and less money in the coffers.

You equality pushers ought to understand what you are talking about, but as usual you miss the boat. Note the first paragraph:

"President Obama Monday named June as "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month" issuing a proclamation that goes even further than those of former President Clinton in its pro-homosexuality slant."

Tell me, how is it equality to promote a particular lifestyle, even to proclaiming a time period in which particularly destructive lifestyles are honored over other lifestyles? Has there ever been a "Straight, Healthy Lifestyle Month" proclamation?

btw, you surely must know Jefferson's letter is not a legal document, even if you are not understanding what it actually says.

It's wheat and chaff time! And I'm not talking about a "rapture"

Thank God for those faithful few that remain.

Aydrian,

Gross immorality will always be outlawed in any society that wishes to be guided by Biblical principles. Your all-permissive equality would of course include lawlessness.
As Mark Levin, in his book, "Men In Black", states, until Justice Hugo Black revived it in 1947, separation of church and state was an obscure metaphor.
This had nothing to do with the first amendment and incidentally Jefferson was not even around at the time as he was over in Europe.
Quoting Mark Levin, "Men In Black":
"Interestingly, two days after writing to the Danbury Baptists, Jefferson attended church services held in the House of Representatives and continued as a regular attendant throughout his presidency."

JOHN 3:36
