What the Popish (cult leader) Church is upset about isn't that there are cult members in Italy, they're upset not all cult members are loyal Roman Catholic Church (cult) members.

As to your uncle something seems amiss here as his "conversion" apparently wasn't sufficient to make him realize how wrong infant sprinkling in the RCC is or he would have joyously renounced his and been immersed as a believer. And something is apparently hugely wrong with his minister if he didn't have the guts to tell your uncle to his face that he might be free to visit but not join if he refused believer's baptism.
