I admit, Jessica, that I'm coming from a home church perspective, so don't think there needs to be some special "women's ministry" in place. In terms of us men not falling into temptation, I totally agree! However, even Godly men have struggled with this issue right from Genesis. We are all being sanctified!
Jessica, you wondered how pastors are going to help women who come into churches with sexual sins that need dealing with. Well, can I ask: do they need to, and should they?
I think it would be unwise for them to "minister" to these women. Surely there would be some Godly women who could guide these other women! We've been reading of men falling after trying to deal with some of these issues by themselves. It's dangerous and foolish from my perspective. There is an enemy trying to catch anyone like this unawares.
Consider also Peter and others in the book of Acts. They didn't appear to fight the establishment at all, but continued to preach, knowing that persecution was a likely result. No thought of "the sword" is given (in Scripture) during this entire section - EXCEPT with Paul!
Paul didn't use "the sword", but he did legally fight his issue by going to the "high court" in Rome. However, we need to note his reason for doing this was ordained by GOD, and for the reason of getting the gospel spread wider.
I agree with Jim. It's a good article that doesn't demonize the Pearl's. I find Michael Pearl a bit hard to "handle" ... but, he's not (nor his books) responsible for any of the deaths of those kids!
I think when you boil it all down, this is really an attack on Biblically training/disciplining our children. It's best for the world to pick on someone who is perhaps a bit more over the top than most. But, be warned that it's really an attack on all of us who seek to bring up our children in GOD's ways!
Also interesting that all the kids killed were adopted children! Why is that!?!
Hate to disagree Helen, but the original word is still the same as every other other time where it's translated "Passover". You'll find that the entire feast of Unleavened Bread is often generically referred to as Passover.
I've gone back to the KJV. Mainly because of the Westcott & Hort issue. From my study, they were evil, fraudulent and into the occult. Correct?? Do all modern translations come from their work?
Louise, I'd be a little cautious with your views. We gentiles are grafted into the natural tree remember. Yes, I know there's a lot of occult seen in some Jewish sectors, and a lot of false religion. But, read your Bible - there always was! That's why the curses occurred!
But, we must be careful not to be arrogant against the natural branches (the ones that are blood descendants AND trusting in Messiah). I believe the believing gentiles have the privilege of becoming part of Israel with them. We follow in the footsteps of Ruth.
The "Time" article I mentioned talks about a couple anti Semitic Russians who performed the evil "prank" at a synagogue. The story went world-wide before it was realized that it wasn't an official thing that occurred. So ... bad, but not in the league that everyone first thought.
I use the KJV, but Easter is clearly a wrong translation. Passover is used all other times - what valid reason is there to change it to the name of the "Queen of Heaven" (see OT)?
Our family celebrated Passover on Monday night, and we'll remember the resurrection on Sunday. That will be the Day of First Fruits - one of GOD's days for thousands of years! We don't have to fit pagan days into our worship of GOD. He's already given us His days if we care to study it out!
I think it looks like the PM is speaking like more and more around the world will. Protect Christians and Christianity! But ... the catch is, that doesn't include the bad fundamentalists! We're the ones who believe and follow GOD at His Word. There's plenty of room in the coming system for all the other "christians".
I've also seen him talk about the Lord's prayer, saying "thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven" - deliberately leaving out "thy will be done"! I know he's worked a bit with Rick Warren, so he must think he's ok.
No ... really? ... you're saying that it actually floated?? You mean on TOP of the water?! Boy, no wonder Noah thanked GOD when he got back onto land! Wow!!!
The thing is, however, that a worldly company is still responsible before GOD, whether they realize that or not. Just like TV. We can choose what we watch but that doesn't mean it's good for anyone to make an occult show either!
Some of this guy's language may seem a little over the top, but I think he does make a valid point. Not just Lego, but most toys seem to be delving into the evil side of things. What is the point - other than some sort of agenda to get kids into more occult thinking?!
When I was playing with Lego, it was just building blocks and your own creativity. Now the creativity's gone, and you're given a themed set of blocks that make only what it's designed to make. Is this a dumbing down idea or what?
We don't do any of the Jewish traditions with our celebration of Passover, etc. And we don't observe Hanukkah or Purim, as we see them as Jewish too. However, we do try to follow the Scripture in these things.
Sabbath (7th day) is one of these things. I think there's about 5-10 Scriptural passages concerning the Sabbath, and over 1000 Rabbinical ones! Easy to see which side the easy yoke is on and which side the heavy and unbearable yoke is on!
"Could be" wrote: Does your family now celebrate Jewish holidays?
Not exactly (in your eyes we do). They're never called "Jewish" holidays, but we have been trying to celebrate the LORD's appointed times, yes. They have certainly been a blessing to us as a family.
