No, "huh". I just don't see Scripturally how Christ's resurrection can/could change one of the 10 Commandments. There's no proof of a definitive Sunday resurrection either, so I still don't see how the Sabbath is one of GOD's apparent temporary ways of living - I've read it's for ALL generations!

"Huh": He was possibly raised right at the end of a Saturday, just as it was "dawning" toward the first day of the week. This doesn't necessarily mean becoming light, but can mean the beginning of a day (dusk).

Even if He did rise on a Sunday, there's no reason that would change the fourth commandment.

Acts 20:7. And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

When you realise the Sabbath ends at sundown Saturday, then you also realise that this verse is talking about everyone meeting on the Sabbath (Saturday), and eagerly staying together into Saturday night (the first day of the week) until midnight.

1 Corinthians 16:2
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Here we see that there was no thought of money on the Sabbath, so the first day of the week was the time to collect your money!

The Sabbath surely remains. Much of the NT explains the OT more deeply, but we need to be careful that we don't say that the NT is above the OT! It is GOD's Word, and His blueprint for righteous living should not be swept aside as not being valid for modern times.

Our Messiah said that not a jot or a tittle will pass from the law until heaven and earth pass away! Look around and you'll notice that they haven't passed away yet!

Sorry ... Can't see that fitting into any Biblical framework at all!

Sounds interesting - perhaps they could also bring in people to discuss road safety and internet fraud. Some groups might even be able to bring along their own music and let the band have a break every now and then!

I agree Gs. That woman was evil!! Of course a form of eugenics is going on right now in China and India with sex controlled births.

Much of the youth group mentality is actually usurping the GOD-given authority of the parents. We've got to do GOD's things in GOD's ways. Gs from Texas was stating what GOD has laid before us in His Word. The hard (but rewarding) thing is that us fathers need to get back to His Word to lead in a Godly fashion. Timothy is presented as a wise, Godly young man in the NT. I can't see that happening too much in the modern youth ministry!

I'm not wanting to "have a go" at anyone here, but just wanting to point out a few inconsistencies that Christianity has in general. We say (correctly) that we don't want to mix light and darkness, Christ and Belial. If there's a news article on a seeker sensitive "church" issue we're all happy to use these verses, but if it concerns something that is so entrenched in our traditions it's difficult to see that we're falling for the same thing! The early Roman "church" mixed a LOT of pagan things in! The protestant church seems to have given up reforming its ways once the salvation, and a few other issues, were rectified. Let's not stop returning to GOD's pure ways brethren!

The wise men arrived up to 2 years after His birth! He was not a newborn baby when they saw Him. No problems with celebrating Christ's birth, but I have a problem with mixing it with pagan timing and practices. He was born about 3 months earlier during the Feast of Tabernacles. Even Charles Spurgeon (believe it or not) talked against Christmas!

Read Leviticus. GOD's holy days are listed there - no Christmas on the list. It was apparently the birthday of Nimrod's son though!

Doesn't sound good, but ... I've got to admit that the pagan songs suit Xmas time rather well. It never was a Holy day of GOD's after all.

Wow! It's amazing how anti-GOD all of this is. If Germany's still holding on to some of Hitler's ideals, then may GOD have mercy on those believers living there! To remain strong and committed as a young family following their Lord would be a test that many of us would know very little about ... but I'm sure it's coming to us too! May GOD have the glory through His people.

Ultimately, all of this boils down to who are truly the "caretakers" of our children. Is it their parents or the state? GOD made it clear that it's the parents. I think Satan has more control if it's the state. There will always be cases where the state steps in to protect children from genuine abuse, but a much greater abuse will result from an ungodly state superseding the position of parents. (I think it was) Plato who wanted to have children brought up by the state after living the first few years with their parents.

Just goes to show that living against GOD's ideals will ultimately lead to negative consequences! I don't think many of our western nations are that far away either. We've bought into the lie that small families are best too! It's not a Biblical worldview!

Do they really need an officiating pastor? The personnel might find that they can meet GOD themselves with their own Bibles and their own voices in prayer!

Just a thought ... wonder if it would make any difference if they went for a seventh day Sabbath ban instead?

This pastor makes the comment that churches expect people to be perfect before they come in. I think he's got a bit of a point in that one actually. Perhaps it's something we all tend to fall for once we've been a Christian for some time (once we've learnt to put on our "perfect" masks for others to see)! However, this has got to lead us back to GOD and His ways, not to the ways of the world! In going to the ways of the world for the answers, he (and we, if we do the same) is actually rejecting GOD - is he not!? He's living in the ways of Cain, who wouldn't humble himself to follow in GOD's path, but chose for himself a different man-centred path that leads to eternal death! We can only pay that GOD will open men's eyes to differentiate between man's "church" and His true and set-apart one.

Let me assure you that having a large family (in reality, allowing GOD to control our family size!) was not on my agenda when I got married, or when we had two children. We totally, and utterly, believe that it's GOD that has lead us to the decision to leave birth control method. We can now see no other Biblical way. It's difficult, challenging and a blessing. Sometimes the world's thinking can get into your head for a while, but praise GOD for His goodness as He encourages and guides His people!

Another verse that my wife and I have been challenged with in the past - when we believe GOD was leading us to not limit or family size - is 1 Cor 6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's"
