If you have a church in an area where most of the christians only know that type of music and want to write or sing praise to our Lord in the only form of music they know, then yes. In a church where it is just a novelty - no.

A very good book on the subject is "Days of vengeance" by David Chilton.

1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

People who use this verse to speak against women wearing pants should consider if it's OK for women to braid their hair, wear gold or pearls, or wear expensive clothing. Please check the context of scripture.

The new versions of scripture have made memorization rather pointless. It seems if you get the meaning right the words you use are unimportant. Ask any of the younger generation.

I'm just wondering:- Are Moslem schools allowed to display words from the Koran on their walls?

May God be close to all those facing persecution for His sake. We in the west don't know what it is to suffer for our faith. We must pray earnestly for those who do.

If anyone has followed Australia's election, you will know that we have elected a female PM with a live in partner. He will move into the official residence with her this week.
I wonder what will become of Australia now, and also if he will travel with her to islamic countries where this arrangement is against their law.

What happens when the country's elected leader is in such a relationship with no plans to marry? This is now the case in Australia. Very very sad.
I fear for our nation.

Frank have you had first hand experience of the church situation in China.
I have a Chinese friend who was converted under the preaching in an official church pastor. Last month my son went to church with him at that church. He listened to the message in English while my friend listened to the original. They both heard the same thing - a sound biblical message. At the close of the service they were asked if any present had heard the gospel for the first time. eight people stood and went to hear a fuller explanation of it. That was the 3rd of 5 services that day and new converts were present at each as well as those first time hearers.
The KJV is used as a text book in universities for those learning English.

How can anyone who has not read the book comment on it without bias? If you are to speak to people who have been infected by this doctrine you must at least know what it is to show them the error.

We've already had ours. We saw the H1N1 virus attack several young families this year, and every member of each family got very sick. It hung around a lot longer than usual too - making them sick several times especially the young children.

Surely this is obvious when you see children raised in bi or tri lingual households. They easily learn to speak all the languages correctly and to use them with the correct people.

Biblicist,
How are dresses more modest than pants? I've seen some dresses that should only grace a bedroom. Surely it is how the clothing is warn - not the fact that it is pants or a dress. In scripture we're only told not to cross-dress, and that applies differently in different cultures.

There are a number of people mentioned in scripture who were believers while still in the womb eg John the baptist. Also we are told that Timothy was quite a young believer.

Get hold of an KJV and check Gal 2: 16- 20.
"justified by the faith of Jesus Christ" not our faith. Then check your Greek NT on this passage. Initially faith is a gift of God allowing our justification to proceed. It then becomes ours and must be strengthened and used.

Our pastor does not, but other members of the church community do. Why is the pastor expected to do everything? Our church visits backpacker hostels and teenage hangouts with tracts and sometimes free sausage sizzles. We also have regular devotional services in old peoples homes and visit individual rooms when we're there.
But no the pastor does not stand on a street corner to preach except at Christmas and Easter when open air song services are held in a park.

Back to a question you asked some time ago concerning the Church of Christ groups. I know of one that claims it holds the reformed doctrine like the presbyterian church, but it has a strange conglomeration of doctrine. One elder is strongly arminian, another is hyper=dispensational, and a third has some knowledge of the reformed doctrine and tries to teach it with a dispensational lean. The pastor sees no contradiction in the various stands taken and preaches a combination of them all. They hold the Baptist view of the sacraments.
I don't know if this is representative of other Church of Christ assemblies. After some research I discovered that they originally broke away from the Presbyterian church in the USA

Does he also ban any mention in prayers of allah or Buddha etc. Any mention of these would surely offend a Christian.

I wonder if those Americans who oppose Sarah Palin would be using the same arguments against Hilary Clinton if she had been nominated in her party.

Women are not second class citizens as implied by Alan H. They are equal with men in Christ. They must though be in subjection to their own husbands - not under all men. From what I've seen Sarah is obeying the will of her husband in standing for this position.

In the church we are expressly told that men are to be in positions of authority. We are not told that women may not receive the gift of teaching or of prophecy. Didn't Philip have four virgin daughters who prophesied. They had no husbands to be in subjection to.
