Check out John 17 v2 and v6 and v9
v2 that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
v6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:
v9 I pray for them; I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

Who is Jesus speaking about in his prayer to his father?

This is good news. Authorities in Russia must also recognise this when you see religion becoming a compulsory subject at school. I wonder how those antichristians will pervert this story.

The boys should not have put the bag on the table, but has anyone considered the question - What were the Somali boys doing in opening and taking things from someone else's bag? If they had ignored it they would not have known it contained a ham sandwich and so would not have been offended. Both groups I believe need councelling on acceptable behaviour.

expositor,
Don't forget the thief on the cross. He was not baptised but will be in paradise. Many of the verses used to say baptism is necessary for regeneration refer to the baptism of the Holy Spirit at conversion not to water at all.

I'm sure there were strong men and women of faith who believed the earth was flat because the scientists told them it was so. Then along come the contemparies of Copernicus who proved scientifically that the earth was a globe as scripture says. Science will I believe one day catch up with Scripture, but this does not affect the faith of scientists who trust God for their salvation despite their limited knowledge of the beginnings of all things. We must not pass judgement on each other. Leave it to God to teach as they read Scripture.

We use the Trinitarian Bible Society tracts. They are only scripture based on a theme. There are 16 different ones with titles eg Think on these things - The Law of God. The love of God. The grace of God. The way of salvation. Repentance towards God.
They are in full colour with attractive background scenery. All contain the gospel in different verses.

I believe the issue confronting the church most is that we in the church do not take God seriously. We spend our time in useless debate instead of in Bible study and prayer. If we were living as God would have us live, the world would be asking of the hope that is in us. It is not asking as it does not see us living in that hope. Many have a sad defeatest attitude that God is losing this war on earth.
If God be God, let's trust Him to use us in His army and let's not hide away afraid that someone may riducule or contradict us or even bear false witness against us.

Don't forget all the great revivals were preceeded by earnest prayer in the Christian community. From my observation I feel this is the thing most lacking in our churches. How many attend the prayer meeting at your church? (If there is one.)
I don't mean one person offering a prayer at the start or end of a meeting - I mean prayer by individuals seeking the will of God.

The teachers also wear uniform in most Queensland schools. I don't know about the other states. I think it is a very good idea. It develops a sense of belonging particularly for kids who have difficult home lives, so long as it doesn't become a bone of contention and is comfortable.

Sorry wrong Newton - yes I meant John
Juniper, what is your question? I do believe in unconditional election. John Newton is a case in point he did dreadful things before God called him, and eventually glorified him. This man sure did dreadful things, but in God's eyes He tells us that whenever we do not honour Him as God or obey all His commandments, we are just as bad. If Jeffrey Dahmer's conversion is genuine he is our brother in Christ.

We are all sordid sinners in God's eyes. What did Isaac Newton say " He can save awretch like me". Who are we to throw the first stone. If God had poured His faith into that murderer's life we should accept him as the minister did as a brother in Christ.

cbcpreacher What do you mean "Unsaved people know that christians don't drink"
Paul actually told Timothy to drink a little wine for his health. In Jesus day as in most of the European countries today wine is part of the meal. Nowhere does Christ say we must not consume alcohol, but rather that we must not be drunkards. If alcohol is banned cough medicines, vanilla used in cooking and many other things will be lost from our diets.
I admire this preacher searching out the lost and confronting them where they hang out, and not waiting for them to come into a christian meeting.

The main problem I see with your illustration and inferences is that the ones immersed or brought under the water were the Egyptians. The Israelites were sprinkled with the water, as they were sprinkled with the blood not immersed in it.

Albert I agree partially. If these young folk wish to live under shari law, send them on 12 months work experience to Iran or Saudi Arabia, living in a private home with others their age to see how it works. Ask them to try to access other cultures from there.

If anyone examined my library to see what books had influenced me, they would be wrong. Most of the books I have not read, as they have been given to me, or left behind by others who read them here. Whereas the ones that interested and thus influenced me, have been passed on to others to read. Many have gone through multiple hands and a few have been returned to pass on again. A dusty book is of no use to anyone.

A dangerous precedent has been set in the US by this swearing in. I have just read an interesting book " From Jihad to Jesus. An ex-militant's journey of faith" by Jerry Rassamni. This book shows from the Koran the anti- peace, anti-Christian, and anti-Jew, stance of the modern moslem faith. Many of the surahs quoted have superceeded others in the Koran. It has been altered many times in history.

How can the pentecostals be counted as a group? There are so many variations from true Bible believers who stand on the Word of God, to the folk who are swayed by every wind of doctrine so long as it feels right. For the latter group the Bible seems to be secondary to their own insght or the preaching of false prophets.

Just saw the news. A video of lectures by a guy who has been forbidden entry to Australia, has been found in the school library. It has been used by teachers with some classes. The principal claims no knowledge of its presence.
