“ Great Sermon! ”
So what about John 3:16? I have a hard time seeing how election fits in with free will. Can you explain that?

This is a part of the emergent church, this book ( I wouldn't call it a bible ) is supposed to attract all the people that is not fond of the other translations, that get lost and confused on other translations. I went to a place ( so called " church" ) where they use this book. The speaker of that place is Chris Seay , who has books like The Gospel according to the sopranos and some other books and also doesn't believe there is a hell!!!!!!!!.
I got a copy of the voice to see what it was all about and just couldn't read it, it jus doesn't match up. Talk about a good example of false teachings.

2 Thess. 2:1-11 "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God..."

Interesting blog, talk about a minefield. The scriptures CANNOT be correctly interpreted without referring to two specific sources of information. Firstly, the original Greek, and secondly, Old Jewish marriage traditions. Divorcing one's spouse is one issue, but let's concentrate on the remarriage afterwards. In all cases, once one has made a vow to God to marry, that vow stands until the day you or your spouse dies..........period, no exceptions. Jesus was concevied in the betrothal period between Mary and Joseph, NOT after they were officially man and wife. If they were married then God would be committing adultery and secondly, Joseph could not have thought to put her away, quietly...she would have been stoned for adultery.
Once marriage is consumated it's for life, and if one divorces for whatever reason, according to scripture you may NOT remarry. If after divorcing your spouse dies, then you are free, NOT before. As far as living together, one must avoid the appearence of evil for the sake of our Lords name, why bring His name into disrepute by living in the same premises? If it's company one wants, then two detached quarters are better. At the end of the day God is not mocked, and our hearts and their motives are laid bare before Him.

1 Corinthians 7:10-16 refutes this notion of "remarriage" being a sin. You should revisit this text.
Now, as for these guys deciding homosexuality is not a sin, they are liars. Either they are liars or Paul and God are liars in 1 Corinthians 6:9,10. I can honestly care less what some man or woman thinks, feels or wants. If you claim to serve God, He has ALL authority which leaves you NONE. This is a nonissue. Open the Bible and read it. Again, those people are liars and Antichrists or as a friend of mine might say, "they are theological terrorists."
Very good, thank you for stating the truth of God's Word. God bless you.

Peter showed his submission to Christ by heeding the rebuke by Paul. Peter understood his mistake and repented and did not play the hypocrite any more. We all need rebuking from time to time and it is a blessing from God when we are correctly rebuked by another and make amends...
John, What you answered is true. But if the "redeemed" willingly submit to his authority over them, how is it that it was even necessary for Paul to be sent by God to straighten Peter out?

John, a Christian is someone who was previously a slave to sin; they were a slave to satan; they were a rebel against God: but now they are redeemed; a price has been paid to redeem them; they are under new ownership; Jesus Christ is their Lord and Saviour; they have a new nature which desires to be obedient to him at all times; they willingly submit to his authority over them...

JOhn, If the "redeemed" willingly submit to his authority over them, how is it that Paul was sent by God to straighten Peter out? Sounds to me like Peter wasn't willingly submitting to his authority over Peter.
