Neil wrote: I'll leave the more obvious complaints to others: "an orphan who is destined to become a powerful missionary" Not merely a godly housewife, mind you. This excerpt reminds me of commonplace, sub-Biblical vocational snobbery. "Protestants" today have joined Catholics in believing, contra 1 Cor. 12, that credentialed, professional (salaried) Christians are more submitted to God than mere laymen, who can do well only by nodding their heads & forking over the dough, no matter what moral or theological error the "Man of God" commits. A man said this to me one time, "God qualifies the called, but rarely calls the qualified" |

Frank wrote: Thanks for the comment and I agree fully with it. They are trying to call upon or follow a Christ they have simply reinvented. Jesus represents some type of vaccine they think they can inject when needed. No, He is Lord and Savior! Thanks! Amen, both of you. This is what happens when Jesus isn't compelling and cool enough. I guess Jesus needs a sidekick and a cape...how about a secret identity? Yeesh! |

Jim Lincoln wrote: Gentleman, what of, Colossians 2 16 Therefore let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.---]]NASB That you do not understand? Of course what Paul wrote is just is much Scripture as any other part of the Bible. Since the Church didn't start until Pentecost, everything that happens before that time is still basically part of the old Testament. Jesus was talking to Jews in Matthew. There is only one line or so of Scripture that that can be applied to the Church and that is about discipline. So, there is only one Sabbath and that is on Saturday. I would suggest you change your church meetings to Saturdays. Christians do, however, have ]]Freedom from the Mosaic Law. Exactly, thank you Jim and Unprofitable Servant. |

Joe the Protestant wrote: Paul; please study this further, from the Puritan and Reformed perspective. These people are not saying what you think they are saying. They are not saying to keep the Jewish Sabbath. They are saying the Lord's day is to be kept holy. They are also saying that the Moral Law (the 10 commandments) is applicable today. Not for salvation but as a rule of love for the Lord. Recommend The Perpetuity and Change of the Sabbath by Jonathan Edwards, and Pink on The Holy Sabbath. Completely agree with keeping the Ten Commandments, Joe. But I see a lot of effort in Christians striving to stay under the Law that Moses put down for the Israelites to follow, hence the Mosaic Law. We are under grace and the whole Law can be boiled down, if you will to two commands (remember, "I give you a new command...?)We all know this, why remain under ritual and religion when Jesus wants us to be free to live for Him? http://revivalandreformation.wordpress.com/2010/12/27/leonard-ravenhill-on-pauls-freedom-via-danes-blog/ |

Well guys, I hope in keeping the sabbath, you also tithe, sacrifice burnt offerings, circumcise your boys...etc. And in keeping the sabbath, make sure you don't cook, watch TV, turn lights on and off, fasten buttons, zip zippers, drive your vehicle, and don't ever spit on the ground, because if it happens to make mud, you're in trouble. Boy the bondage on this comment thread is quite shocking. Do you who are in favour of the sabbath and living by the law actually follow all of these requirements? If you do not follow each and every facet of the law, you subject yourself to the curse, and make Christ's sacrifice of no effect for He was made a curse for us, so we wouldn't be at the mercy of the law. You either live in grace or you in under the law, as Paul said to Peter, you can't have it both ways. |

Rick wrote: "a philosophy called creationism" Here I thought it was just being a Bible Believer. It's not a New Philosophy, it's been around for a while. Ha! Nice one. We are philosophers! How can it be that over 50% are atheists, more and more "Christian" leaders don't believe in God anymore, but yet 4 out of 10 believe that God created the universe?! Am I missing something here? I guess the old saying rings true, "3/4 of the population are below average intelligence." |

Seasoned wrote: This was news to you that people think like that? Well, no...but it still shocks you when you hear a man straight-faced say something as idiotic as this. "No...I am getting smarter now...instead of only knowing .001% of all there is to know in the universe, I now know .002%. See who needs God anyway?" |

west coast reader wrote: ...When asked what matters most, teenagers prioritize education, career development, friendships, and travel. Faith is significant to them, but it takes a back seat to life accomplishments... I was listening to an old respecet preacher here on SA in a message he gave in 2002. He was advocating just this explaining... "you don't want to work at Target your whole life do you? You need to go to College!" and he was speaking to girls and even suggesting secular college. He said to the parents something like "God will protect them, you can't protect them forever yourselves". --Albert Martin-- We quit listening to him from this point, and this servey confirms what we already knew from the Bible. Don't chase idols. You actually heard Martin say that? Can you remember which sermon? That is surprising. It seems the "get educated" trap has conditioned everyone. Education will not get you or anyone into heaven. We are here for one reason only. To bring God glory. We are servants for Him doing His work. Jesus dying on the cross alone saves us, and if we do not put Him first, we are in trouble. |

Well praise God isn't that awesome? This is what God intended and until more women realize that if they want their families blessed, they will forsake worldly ambition and be Moms and Wives, not CEOs and Senators. |
