(TMC) @Ladybug I’m afraid I still don’t grasp the reasoning of why we should even feed the trolls on one topic, but that’s neither here nor there. Hope you have a very Blessed season! @JuneAnnette Blessings to you, and hope you’re enjoying the break from Arctic temps! |

(TMC) @B McCausland “Often 'biting each other' is not recognized for what it is, and passes disguised as 'holy indignation', I’m rather afraid I’ve been guilty of that myself. It can be easy, for me at least, to get so wrapped up in a zealous defence of what I hold to be Biblical truth that I lose sight of the Biblical commands regarding grace and humility. If I am aiming to share sound wisdom, (including wisdom gleaned from others) than it should look like this: “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”~ James 3:17 @Lurker I think your diagnosis is correct- with the addition that the churches themselves generally train kids that whatever the adults are doing in the sanctuary is “boring”. Not too surprising that once they age out of the “Fun and Games”, they just leave. PS: Looks like your arm was safe! @JuneAnnette I thought you were reffering to Mike’s comment as “shameful”. Was I wrong? If so, I apologize for including that in my earlier comment. |

(TMC) @ Christopher000 Good points, you’re not alone! @ Ladybug “It's also sad that some refuse to rebuke the trolls” I’m a tad confused here. Last week, on another thread, you begged me not to take SteveR’s bait- now it is sad that people don’t engage? To be honest, I thought about asking him if Poland was making Jesus as represented by Scripture or Jesus as “represented” by the pope, King. However, I realized that his post was totally off topic and likely just a dig at y’all. Come back later, and everyone is so worked up that Mike’s off hand remark that this topic has been coming up more than usual lately, is taken as evidence of agrivation, part of a pattern, and shameful! May I do you the favor you did me, and ask that we not bite at bait? Because when we do, we seem to end by biting each other. Hope y’all have a Blessed day! |

(TMC) @US Yes, it also varies depending on what the laws were when one was born. At any rate, I just think we could have made better headway with other objections; and with how corrupt Obama is, I would have preferred someone more stable and trustworthy to investigate him. All’s good up here, plenty of Siberia and Planet Hoth quips being passed around! Right now it a balmy 23 degrees outside and is forcasted to drop alllll daaaaaaay looooong, until it bottoms out at -7 degrees tomorrow morning! I must confess I’ve no clue when Ohio faces Alabama, but I wouldn’t underestimate ‘em! Around here “The Game” is Ohio vs. Michigan! As long as we win that, it’s a good season, win or lose the rest!! Go Bucks! |

(TMC) I must say, there were reams of solid, provable, reasons to oppose Obama. Yet some folks picked the weakest arguement against him. In light of actual facts, the whole thing is pointless. A. The local Hawaiian Newspaper has a Birth Announcement from the day he was born. B. Even if he HAD been born in another country- as long as his mother was actually his mother he is a Natural Born Citizen. Arpaio is an embarassment to conservatives and I’m glad he’s out of office. When you go around bragging that you run a “Concentration Camp” you are unfit for office- never mind the incident where his deputies invented a bomb threat on Arpaio, planted evidence, and tried to charge and imprision an innocent citizen. That one alone cost his county taxpayers thousands of dollars. Complete Dirt Bag. WND’s support of these things, in addition to running multiple stories that, after some basic research, proved to be “fake news”, is why I don’t use them as a news source. |

(TMC) @Wayfairer Pilgrim All I can say is that this Young, not very restless, but certainly Reformed, Calvinist owes way too much to you ‘builders’ to be so ungrateful! A book that you may wish to recommend to YRRs like that is “Killing Calvinism: How to Destroy a Perfectly Good Theology from the Inside” by Greg Dutcher. It addresses the issues you mention (and more)! @Ladybug I honestly don’t think many people equate “Calvinism” with “Believing everything Calvin wrote”; but rather they equate it with what we would call “The Doctrines of Grace”. And so for the sake of being clear and upfront, if asked, I call myself a Calvinist. Personally, I do not believe saying “Calvinism” credits Calvin for Biblical truth, any more than saying “America” credits Ameriggo Vespuci with Creating this Continent. I also greatly appreciate, when looking for a website or book on certain theological issues, when people are upfront about their distinctives. If everyone only used the term “Christian”, you could spend a lot of time buying and reading books, only to discover by an off hand comment part-way through that the author is RCC, SDA, JW, etc. Just my thoughts on this, hope you have a Wonderfully Blessed day! |

(TMC) @Ladybug Thanks for the good advice and for re-stating my question to J4J! @J4J If, as you are claiming, the word ‘world’ means everyone, then according to that verse God does not hold anyone accountable for their sin. If that is your belief, then do you believe anyone goes to Hell? Or does God send them there for no reason? Also, what is the point of telling people to repent if their sins are already disregarded? |

(TMC) @SteveR LOL! Interesting conversation SteveR, but you really didn‘t affect me. Sticks and Stones, you know. Anyhow, I really do hope that you grow in grace so that one day everyone will look at your posts as an example of kind speech! Have a good day! |
