Elder R. Rubino, Pastor. ‚ÄúSanctification or Suicide!‚ÄĚ Covenant Gospel pt. 3 I Text: Old Covenant: (Ezekiel 36:22-32) New Covenant: (Colossians 1:21-23)
II Doctrine: Men and women are by nature enemies of God in every way. Our minds which are the precursor for our physical actions are rife with sin. Jesus Christ by removing the curse of sin through the cross has justified us before God. This justification also leads to sanctification because we are no longer enemies of God. We are now the children of God who should gratefully serve their Father in heaven. Christians must maintain faith in Jesus Christ as the foundation of their lives. Both individuals and churches must partake through faith in the process of sanctification or reap the whirlwind. Our great Covenant God wants a loving relationship with us, and will bless us for faithful living. III Reasons: 1) Without the Holy Spirit our minds are helplessly depraved. (Romans 1:28-32) 2) The Reformation which officially began 500 years ago recovered the doctrine of ‚ÄúJustification by grace through faith.‚ÄĚ This recovery of scriptural truth revitalized a dying European Church and culture. (Habakkuk 2:1-4) 3) Without the faithful marriage of the doctrines of Justification and Sanctification individuals and Churches become horribly Apostate. (Ezekiel:22-32) IV Application: 1) The Protestant Reformation corrected the Apostate Roman Catholic leadership which deprived people of the doctrine of Justification by faith. They were trapped in a cycle of guilt, sin, and extortion.
