Theme: Believers must not shy away from telling the whole truth of the gospel which includes warning of the judgment to come. In vv. 13-14, we see the danger of neglecting revelation. When we have received greater revelation regarding the gospel, we have a higher level of accountability. There is a real judgment coming. In v. 15, we learn the danger of embracing pride. In humility, we need to allow God's Word to change us. The gospel must be responded to with true repentance; it is not enough to just hear the good news. In v. 16, Jesus explains the danger of rejecting the messengers. We also learn from this that we shouldn't take rejection personally. A rejection of the gospel message is really a rejection of God Himself. When we see the revelation of the gospel, we are called to repent and believe the gospel. Only then can we be saved from the judgment to come. In Christ alone, we find life, joy, and peace.
