The issue this week is the office of deacon. This is an important issue because Christians are called to serve the body of Christ (in Greek, to deacon).
One of the best places to see how Christians are to deacon is found in Mark 2:12. This man's friends demonstrate what deaconing is.
Because the offices of the church are not unimportant, but are rather offices designed to make sure the Church accomplishes her mission, the office of deacon must be understood in terms of its relationship to the mission of the church -- which is the Proclamation of the Gospel!

The deacons were charged with taking care of the things that prohibited the elders and the apostles from praying and teaching. Therefore, the emphasis in diaconate ministry is the removal of obstacles from the proclamation of the gospel, either from before the hearerss or from before the preachers.

1) character (8) 2) knowledge- they must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. (9) 3) experience (10, 12)
