What would you do differently if you knew you only had a limited amount of time to live? A year! A month? A Few Days? What is on your 'bucket list' of things you want to do before you die? Truth is: all of us have a limited amount of time to live. We all are going to die or Jesus Christ is going to return for His bride, the church! Peter lived anticipating the return of the Lord. He believed that the 'end of all things is at hand', the consummation of the age when Jesus Christ returns. He along with the rest of the apostles and early church believed in the imminent, bodily return of Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is coming again. And the prospect of his soon, sudden return should motivate us for godly living. Peter, in 1 Peter 4:7, encourages us in light of Christ's soon return to first of all, keep our heads screwed on straight and not be carried away by the hype or emotions of the hour. He secondly encourages us to be alert to pray. We need to be mentally alert for the purpose of prayer! We are at war. The offensive weapon in spiritual warfare is prayer! We fight the battle on our knees. So our adversary will do whatever he can to distract us from praying. More than ever, we as believers need to watch and pray! Be alert to pray!
