Esau, the profane and worldly man, did not value God as did his brother Jacob. He saw the blessing as something that secured a worldly inheritance, and therefore planned to kill his brother. Jacob, with nothing but the blessing, set out away from his home, and as he slept in the wilderness, he was granted a vision from God that points to Christ. In response he vowed to dedicate himself to the God who had first loved him.
