When it comes to worship, is it enough to just show up? What is worship like, "under the sun," and what does God intend it to be? In Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 Solomon is in pursuit of fulfillment – meaning. So much of what he's examined turns out to be vanity, striving after the wind. But what about worship? Could even worship, surely the most fulfilling pursuit of all, be reduced to just a pointless formality? Beloved, Solomon finds out that religion still exists under the sun, but that doesn't mean it pleases God. Let's consider four warnings that separate the worship of fools from the worship of saints: i.) come to listen (v.1); ii.) pray with reverence (vv.2-3); iii.) vow with integrity (vv.4-5); iv.) speak with caution (vv.6-7).
