Theme: The Lord provides a sacrifice so His people may live! In vv. 1-8, God commands a sacrifice. This was a test for Abraham, and he responds with faith in the Lord. In vv. 9-14, God provides a substitute, and Abraham names the place "The Lord will provide." In vv. 15-19, God pronounces His covenant blessing that all nations will be blessed because of Abraham's obedience. Three reflections offered by Greidanus from this passage are that we need to constantly remind ourselves that we live only by God's grace, that we need to humble ourselves, for it is God Who provides, and that we need to be continuously thankful for God's sacrifice so that we may live.
