'Lord, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am.'
We took David's request as the fruit of contemplation under the rod of God. With this background, we had some general observations to make about such thinking and praying; secondly, we turned to the particular request - the rare but profitable concern to know our own end, measure our days, and know our frailty; and, thirdly, we considered some specific lessons to learn (making this a matter of prayerful consideration, pursuing a right relationship with God, making a right preparation for death, and establishing right priorities for life).
Knowing our frailty ought to make us live as men and women bound for eternity.
