Elisha went to Syria to begin the process by which the judgement of God would come upon the House of Ahab. Hazael, the general who killed his master, was God's instrument of justice to bring his wrath on the wicked. God's word of judgement is fulfilled - he is over all, even murderous usurpers! And there is a wrath to come - from which Christ alone delivers, for he has himself borne our sins and the wrath due us.
