Paul was called to be a witness to the risen Christ, to the Gentiles and the Jews. This led him into peril in the Temple as enemies attacked him. He sought to persuade the Jewish people there that he was not their enemy, appealing to the truth of his calling. But prejudice led to further violence, and he was taken by the Romans, who themselves were prejudiced against him as a Jewish man. Paul had no such prejudices, for he knew that God will build his Church out of people from all nations and backgrounds.
