Fellowship Baptist Church of Coney Island 2929 west 20th Street Brooklyn, N.Y. 11224 Phone: (718)-372-5022 Website: coneyfbc.com Sermon Outline for Sunday, September 28, 2014 Senior Pastor R. Rubino Help My Church is a Prison! (T.G. 16) 1)Text: “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” (Galatians 6:1)
2)Doctrine: Christians are commanded to restore a Brother or Sister in Christ who has sinned. We are to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit while carrying out this command. The Church is not a Prison where guilty people gather, it is a family of redeemed believers. (Galatians 5:22,23)
3)Reasons: Some common objections will be refuted.
1.Taking this type of approach in the Church body would give members too much authority. (James 5:19,20) 2.Any sin a member is struggling with should be brought before the Elders immediately. (Matthew 18:15) 3.Professional Christian counselors should always be consulted. (Matthew 18:16-18)
1.Christians must remember to help a fellow sinner who has fallen. 2.The Children of God must not rejoice in another’s sin. 3.Brothers and Sisters in Christ must be as patient with fellow believers as God is with them! (Matthew 18:21-35)
Fellow Sinners. Thank you for that reminder. I often over look the obvious. Pride is blinding.
