Apollinarianism and Nestorianism are hardly household words, but they stand for two serious errors related to who Jesus is. Apollinarius tried to explain the incarnation by saying that the Divine nature in Christ took the place of part of the human nature, making Jesus not really human, while Nestorius spoke in such a way as to suggest Jesus was in fact two persons, one divine and one human, co-operating closely so as to act as one, while not really being one. In fact there is one person, who is both God and man.
