This is a principle which distinguishes our religion from all others, that we know that God has spoken to us, and [we] are fully convinced that the prophets did not speak at their own suggestion but that they were organs of the Holy Spirit to utter only those things which had been commanded from heaven.
~ John Calvin ~
We owe to Scripture the same reverence we owe to God, because it has proceeded from him alone and has nothing of man mixed with it.
~ John Calvin ~
The Word must stand, for God cannot lie, and heaven and earth must go to ruins before the most insignificant letter or tittle of his Word remains unfulfilled.
~ Martin Luther ~
It is not the Word of God because the Church says so, but that the Word of God might be spoken, the Church came into being. The Church does not make the Word, but it is made by the Word.
