The answer that any thinking person would come to is that the Abrahamic covenant was conditional, which it was, and as with all conditional covenants that ended when the people did not adhere to it.
"Everlasting" so long as the conditions were met!
Otherwise, you ignorant person, the land would also still belong to the Jews.
