If this church had remained within the Biblical Doctrines of Grace, ie Calvinism, they wouldn't be here today.Calvinism is the Bible the whole Bible and nothing but the Bible.
The alternative Arminianism chooses instead to establish man's input into religion and doctrine. This toxin of course comes originally from the Roman Catholics hypothesis. What they do is establish man's philosophies in their religion, such as man's faith is his own faculty/ability. Or Limited Atonement is not limited but available to all sinners as long as THEY (human control again) make the right decision.
These Arminian and Wesleyan philosophies establish the principle of cutting out parts of Scripture to allow human ideology to replace them. The Arminian/Wesleyan believe God requires their help to establish salvation of sinners. Thus they have a weaker "God image" (idolatry)
Ultimately this leads to Liberalism and a god made in man's image. Then they can chop up Scripture keeping only the nice bits and raising man to a higher level of spiritual power over himself.
Liberal theology thus grew over time from Roman Catholic, Arminian and other cult theories which man formed in his imagination and Fantasies.
