"Prerequisite" is not the premise nor is "aimed at the senses" per John Glass. Either there are examples of worship that exclude the senses, or there are not. What do you (not specifically you, sc) actually do when you worship with other believers, while excluding the senses? One can indeed pray when one is blind deaf and mute, but that doesn't require corporate worship.
Pink said:
"True worship is the adoration of a redeemed people, occupied with God Himself."
Vague. What does this look like? Surely if "true worship" exists as per Pink, it is not unreasonable to expect that he should know what it looks like, that is, what is it to truly worship that "excludes everything that is of the natural man," which includes all his senses.
Worship is words. If it cannot be expressed in words it is not worship. Musical instruments are merely an aid to our verbal expressions. Elevate the music above the importance of the words and you are aiming at the sensual.

You are an intelligent man Mike NY. Surely you can fill in the blanks

Too bad Pink doesn't give examples here of worship that excludes the senses. I'd like to see or hear them, but that would require senses.
Music that is aimed at the senses rather than to aid appropriately in our corporate singing so that we may concentrate on the meaning of the words we sing as we address them to The Lord is what Pink would have in mind. Of course the meaning of the words will impact the senses and sometimes we may feel overwhelmed by emotion but that is as it should be. It's the truth that is having that effect NOT the emotions being worked on by the music. The latter is manipulation of the emotions.

Drums, electric guitars and the like, the use of syncopated music, Rock rhythms etc. to pander to the musical tastes of the performers or the congregation should be outlawed. This is sensuous only and should play no part in the true worship of God.

I've also been to churches where the music leader advises the congregation to be quiet while the musicians worship God with their music making. That is not worship either in spirit or in truth. Well may we ask, who hath required this of thee? In this sense the so called Regulative principle, when used rightly, is a good principle.

If you are in devilish league with Anabaptist Reprobates, you have my pity but not my prayers. I dont pray for the damned
John Knox on the Anabaptists
"the Anabaptists "shall not escape judgment and condemnation." This is so, declared Knox, "because they do despise Christ Jesus and His[!] holy ordinances."
"the Papists are busy to espy our offences, faults and infirmities..., they are not the enemies most to be feared. For...of the other [Anabaptist] sort of whom before we have somewhat spoken, the craft and malice of the devil fighting against Christ is more covert
Anabaptists that "with the Pelagians and Papists, you have become teachers of free will and defenders of your own justice.... Your poison is more pestilent than that of the Papistry was in the beginning."
"Anabaptists, Arians, or other such -- [are] enemies of the Christian religion."
Yep pretty much as I expected....zero grace, and a pretty ugly display to demonstrate your spiritual parentage.... You're so like your father the devil. What an awful, miserable miscreant you are, behaving more like a hate filled Muslim than a Christian.

You really are one hate filled fella. You are a disgrace to your Christian profession. It's clear for all on this board to see who is the hard hearted one, and that is you. May the good Lord in his mercy humble you and make you a Christian before it's too late.

It is only in your warped mind that no Christian can be an actor or actress and remain saved and that no Christian can remain in the Catholic Church and remain saved. The Bible states there is only one requirement for salvation and entering Heaven and that is to trust in Jesus alone for salvation. Nowhere in the Bible is church attendance/membership in any church mentioned as being required for salvation and entering Heaven. Jesus will not look at the church that one attended in deciding who enters Heaven. Jesus will only look at who had trusted in Him alone for salvation in deciding who enters Heaven. And if a Christian is an actor or actress they can just act in roles that are wholesome and family oriented and that don't have any fornication or any other sinful activity.
Trust manifests itself in obedience. No obedience, no trust. The Lord said, if YE love me obey my commandments. Clearly by your disobedience you show that you do not love nor trust the Savior.

Angry? You must be the only one. But since you were not party to the dispute, why are you angry? Vendetta?

Mote and beam come to mind.

You perceive that God wants?! You have a direct line to the Almighty? Why would God want that when the brothers have already made up?

Lurker, I'm surprised you didn't put the scholars in inverted commas.
I remember those days, and it all seemed so plausible, the endtime prophecies all coming together. That is, until the member states started increasing to well over ten, and still increasing.
At meeting last night, I mentioned that one of the reasons the disciples of Jesus all gave up after the crucifixion was because prophetically they were expecting the Messiah to be a Deliverer, one who would destroy the Roman occupation and give the land back to Israel so they could self rule again. They still had no clue about the reason for his death, nor did they expect his resurrection.
I continued that in our day, it amazes me that some Christian churches are still expecting Jesus to be some sort of political authority and earthly king, when he comes again at the second advent. They say he will rule the world from Jerusalem.
Methinks his kingdom is different.
If I recall correctly Hal Lindsey was one of those on the EU end times gravy train.

Did Jesus not say ' my kingdom is not of this world'. Difficult words for some to understand.

Dear Dorcas,
Your probably right, but this guy has done the same thing to me before, and it gets on my nerves. I just don't like watching the same thing happen to a fellow brother in Christ!
That was the word of God that sister Dorcas quoted. There is therefore no probability that it can be wrong. Just saying.

And by the way, "this guy" is a brother in Christ, so a bit of brotherly love and respect for an older brother would not go amiss.

Doesn't anyone read the Bible anymore? Deuteronomy 18 has clear rules on how to gauge if a person is speaking for God. Does what he speak come true? If not, you can disregard him.
I think Hal Lindsey is one of these speakers; had a big hit in a previous century with his book, The Late Great Planet Earth, which should be shelved in the Fiction section of your local library.
I suspect ignorance of the Bible is exactly what draws Dopey to Lindsey.

I have seen various Hal Lindsey videos over the years but I have never seen one as good as the one I linked to in my last post.
In my opinion, that video is outstanding, to put it mildly, in terms of very important Scripture references for our generation, very important historical information for our generation, very important political information for our generation, and very important American media information for our generation.
As well the various things I just listed are tied directly and indirectly to the article provided by SermonAudio to start the discussion and comments.
I view that Hal Lindsey video so significant that I downloaded it so that I could use it as tool for a Christian witness among unsaved people whom I deal with but who may not have internet access. As well I can also use it as a tool for a Christian witness among people who have internet access.
Please feel free to comment again as this is not my thread but rather SermonAudio's thread.
This clown takes his eschatology from Hal Lindsey! What could be worse?
