This sounds like "much ado about nothing." In these days, when a court in virginia cannot correctly quote "..all men are created equal.." as being in the Declaration of Independence, being a Mason seems to be a minor detail.
Nevertheless, it is interesting that the article's author was surprised to find many Masons in his church. If he wanted to find less, he should have joined the Orthodox Church or the Roman Catholic Church, where they are prohibited.
I am not a member nor interested in being one, but I have toured a historic Masonic bldg when they opened it for public tours during a festival held at a nearby public park. The members seemed to be mostly elderly, and eager to recruit younger people.
