Michael Battle, president of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, pointed to ministers like Moral Majority founder Jerry Falwell and Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson."For a long time those preachers have been very, very engaged in this effort to get people to register and to vote for the candidate of their choice — so it is not new to the black church, nor is it new to the white church, to encourage participation in the democracy," Battle said. It makes no difference that Sen. Obama isn't experienced enough to be president. What makes him special is he is Black. To vote for a person based on his appearance rather than his qualifications is juvenile at best. To support a candidate because he looks like you or has your hair color or he is the same religion is putting this country at a greater risk than when Republicans voted for George Bush because he's republican or "Christian". My problem is that blacks would not have been as eager to get voters to register had Hillary won the Democrat nomination, unless Hillary would have put Obama on the ticket. These are the facts. Blacks are voting for Obama for the main reason, he is black and that is truly sad for the human race. You want to make history, Vote for the one who is best, not who you like. |
