Mike wrote: I wonder if similar sentiments weren't expressed when the first machine printed Bible came out. I wonder when did God need to resort to pragmatism to get his word to the young people? |

John UK wrote: ...Any good unbiased scholar knows full well that the AV is a simpler to read translation than any other version. Thank you John, As I've stated in another thread,I have lots of Bible versions in my closet. It's like I heard Paris Reidhead say in a sermon," I happen to have a KJV. No I don't happen to, I CHOOSE TO HAVE A KJV." |

Ever read Psalm 119:9, Jim. |

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it The Holy Bible (Jer.6:10)Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. The Holy Bible (Jer.6:16) I don't believe in making a comic book out of the word of God. The writer of Hebrews called God's word a two edged sword, not a modern-day feel good book. If the sword is continuously dulled and "dumbed down" eventually it will become of no effect to whoever reads it. |

Jim Lincoln wrote: DavidD1960, one should ask why The [A]nglican [V]ersion a syncretic Bible put forth by a sycretic church found by a serial wife murderer? was being honored and ]]The Geneva Bible Of 1560 wasn't being honored this year? The AV has and is primarily a political tool and secondarily a Bible.... Jim,I may not have a theological degree, but what I do have is a closet filled with modern versions, including the NASB and numerous others.I purchased all these versions because I wanted something easier to read than the KJV.Needless to say,I came back to the KJV,finding that it's not that hard to understand if you ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. |

Middle voice from 1142; TDNT 2:19; TDNTA 137; GK 1227; 13 occurrences; AV translates as “possessed with devils” four times, “possessed with the devil” three times, “of the devils” twice, “vexed with a devil” once, “possessed with a devil” once, and “have a devil” once. 1 to be under the power of a demon. Additional Information: In the NT, these are persons, afflicted with especially severe diseases, either bodily or mentally, (such as paralysis, blindness, deafness, loss of speech, epilepsy, melancholy, insanity, etc.) whose bodies in the opinion of the Jews demons had entered, and so held possession of them as not only to afflict them with ills, but also to dethrone the reason and take its place themselves; accordingly the possessed were wont to express the mind and consciousness of the demons dwelling in them; and their cure was thought to require the expulsion of the demon. Strong, J. (1996). The exhaustive concordance of the Bible (G1139). I hope this helps,it is what's in my Bible. |
