Many of Jesus' disciples also regarded this as a hard saying. They also abandoned him.

Only the pure of heart can receive communion? If that's the case no man on earth including the pope can recieve it.
In a sense, that is true. No one, including the pope, is really worthy to receive communion. But we must take into account Christ's own words: "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you." (John 6:53)

At the same time, we must heed St Paul: "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord." (I Cor 11:27)

So there are degrees of unworthiness. Paul means that those in a state of serious and unrepented sin, or those who do not believe, are unworthy to receive.

Now, with that said, how can such a sinful man who is blatantly disobedient to God's word make 'holy' bread and wine?
No man can do it. God does it, even through extremely unworthy instruments. If what you say about this priest is true, then he defiles himself with a great sacrilege every time he says Mass.

In spite of this, all the graces of the One Sacrifice on Calvary are made available to those who assist at his Masses, and who are in a state of grace.

I might ask why those who do not believe in the efficacy of the Mass and Eucharist are concerned about what Catholics believe. It is significant that so many choose the Mass and Eucharist as the object of their attack.

So the finished work of Christ on the cross wasn't good enough for the RCC? This superficial 'sacrifice' must take place over and over, because Christ failed to do the job??!! What does 'do this in REMEMBRANCE of me' mean to the RCC? How is this verse from God's holy word twisted to fit your 'sacred tradition'? What if the priest, who consecrates the bread and wine, is a homosexual, as so many within the RCC are? How is it a mortal, sinful man 'makes holy' bread and wine when he himself is riddled with sin? How do you dance around this one?
No need to dance around, enough already. Just doing as Christ commanded. He knows best.

No need, either, to adopt the 16th century deliberate misinterpretation of the word "remembrance", as though it invalidates the words preceding it. (Luther knew better than Calvin on this one.)

And there is only one sacrifice, as the RCC teaches. No repeats.

To say that the validity of the sacrifice or sacrament depends on the holiness of the priest is the heresy of Montanism. A Mass said by a priest in a state of serious sin is still a valid re-presentation of the sacrifice on Calvary, even though the priest himself commits sacrilege.

Intention for the Bread & the Cup and Blasphemy of the Mass.
One day the two reverend authors of these sermons will come to realize that, were it not for the fact that the Sacrifice of the Mass is being offered every moment of every day, everything thing they do would be in vain.

The second of them (not his fault) is probably too deeply influenced by his ethnic connections to see the truth.

A silly question, enough already. There is only one church, so there is no need to specify.

RCs are, on the whole, probably a bit less classy than Protestants.

I'm sure Foxes Book of Martyrs contains some inspiring stories, but I don't think the vain and pointless "martyrdoms" of English Reformers are among them.

They died for nothing, but I trust God overlooked that.

How will they disappear Lance? Will the RCC martyr them again??!! BTW, God doesn't reside in a 'church', He resides in the hearts of every born again believer.
No worthless "martyrdoms" are necessary. The centuries-old downward trajectory will continue, ever steeper, till zero point is reached.

Yes, Christ resides in the heart of every believer, but he founded a Church to guide those believers.

Hopefully, the many waiting to cross the Tiber will bring their statues and icons with them, leaving the barren, whitewashed temples to the blasphemers.

Perhaps, in a few generations, when the blasphemers have disappeared from the face of the earth, the ancient church buildings can be restored to their original state, glorifying God.

That's pretty amazing. A potential president of the USA wants to begin mass slaughter of his country's next generation before they're even born.

If that happens, America can kiss goodbye to its position of world leadership.

Its rival for this position, China, is an even worse worshiper of Moloch, so China won't be the next world leader.

So I guess that will leave world leadership to some country or civilization that values children.

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"
Exactly. And that is what the RCC teaches.

There is no other mediator but Jesus Christ, but all, including the saints in heaven, may intercede with him for his mediation on behalf of others.

Making profit like this is totally unscriptural and sounds simply blasphemous! You cannot buy grace and faith. You must believe the Creator, not the created. Paying money to merit grace is not Christian.
As a Catholic, I would have to agree with that.

But as a Catholic, I also believe in the efficacy of holy relics. I certainly hope that I can get to Sydney to pray before the body of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati when it arrives for World Youth Day.

I have every confidence that he will intercede with God for me.

Will they have separate male and female ones, appropriately staffed?

If not, imagine the fuss if some imam was boarding with his wife in full purdah, and the wife was asked to go through the X-ray machine.

And this sentence caught my eye: "We're just scratching the surface of what we can do with whole-body imaging."

I suppose there would be TV executives making the same comment, as they come up with ideas for new reality shows.

Jim Lincoln wrote:
I don't have a hangup on celibacy, Lance, my hangup is about the Catholic Church forcing what is an unnatural condition for many men and women
No one is forced. It's a free choice -- as I'm sure I've said often before. Nor is it unnatural.

Choice 1: Become a celibate priest/nun/monk.
Choice 2: Stay in the world, but remain celibate.
Choice 3: Stay in the world and marry.

And to your tedious claim that the Catholic Church is not Christian, I reply that it is the only truly Christian Church. All others are in heresy or schism, have defective doctrines, and cannot save.
