Now, this angel who is speaking with Daniel beginning in verse 11, and continuing in verse 12, speaks great words of comfort to him. He says that he should not fear, for from the first day that he had set his heart to understand, and to humble himself before God, his words were heard. This angel was sent because of Daniel's prayers. If Gabriel (this angel is mentioned by name in chapter 8, verse 16, and 9: 21) had this kind of regard for Daniel, according to the will and purpose of God, then it is apparent that the angels, even though we cannot see them, know exactly what our state before God is at any time. Indeed, they are those celestial beings who watch over every one of God's elect people. And they are involved in the spiritual battles that we are involved in, to see truth better understood, and Christ's kingdom advance in truth and righteousness. |
