At the beginning of Colossians chapter 2, Paul introduces the fact that the Christian life, especially for ministers of the Gospel, is a conflict. This war is not conducted with carnal weapons but with that which is spiritual. We should be clothed in the whole armour of God that we may be able to withstand in the evil day. The battle rages in the heavenlies as well as upon earth for we are engaged against spiritual antagonists. Prayer and preaching are the main weapons. Above all, taking the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Loud music and worldly methods have no place in this battle. Such are a way by which the enemy has infiltrated the Church and substituted the weapons and armour we have been provided with, with man's ideas and methods. He reminds the Believers of the necessity of Divine love as conflict within the Church, while dealing with error, can easily arouse the flesh.
