Galatians 6:4–5 (NKJV): But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For each one shall bear his own load.
The load is not the same thing as the burden. Where the burden speaks of unbearable, crushing hardship, the load is each one's fair share of the work. Each one doing his or her part, and all have a part to play... but the idea of a fair labor, a load that you are expected to carry is not appealing in this age of entitlement, this era of "social justice", this time ravaged with the violence born of hatred, demanding that others surrender exactly what "I" want. However, the truth of scripture is that there is a basic expectation of work, of laying hold of that portion which is put in front of you and doing your part, your share, your piece... the idea of making excuses for not even trying is contrary to the flavor of the Biblical mandate. The cultural ideals of the age, the mores of the time are all out of sync with the Word of God. It is impossible to justify the idea that someone has the right to demand something simply because they didn’t have it before and someone else did. It is impossible to justify the idea that it is right to forcibly take something from someone else because you don’t have it and you want it… there is, however a word for that - that word is stealing. What the scripture teaches is this simple concept: A man works for what he needs. He bears his own load. He labors with his hands as is good and proper and he receives the rewards of his labor. Further, scripture tells us that the man who does so with a right heart is generous with what he has earned. Giving freely of his earnings so that those in need might have enough. But that must be born out of the heart. It cannot be demanded and it cannot be forced. God will change the hearts of those who are his so that we WANT to comply with what He has ordained. Beloved, do not allow the broken ideas of the culture to shape your mind and heart. We MUST stand for what it true, even when it is not popular, even when it is ridiculed and despised on every side. God's truth is always true, no matter what groups say otherwise. We must strive to form our thoughts and ideas from the Word of God, rather than the empty lies and hollow promises of a world gone mad with hatred.
