Trial and tribulation as applied by God, on HIS Christians, using the experience of life on earth builds Christian character and reveals potential and strength in faith. Thus trial and trib has a very useful and practical purpose both for God and in the life of the Christian. Election and the gift of faith are simply the beginnings of this process. Where in the Bible does it reveal God's purpose of trial and trib have this 'good' effect? Hebrews 11 is a good start. 2Cor 1:5-10. Job 2:10 reminds us of reality. Psalm 26:1-2 Are good questions in relation to effect. Ephesians 6 ... The 'armour' of God. Why might you require armour down here on earth? Trial and trib builds character. Trial and trib demonstrates grace at work in the Christian life. When God calls HIS elect to HIM, HE does not just leave them to their own devices. God works HIS plan and purpose in each life which HE saves. God chastises HIS elect Proverbs 3:11/12. God does allow Satan to trial and trib as Book of Job teaches. 2Corin. 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. |

Christopher000 wrote: National repentance will never happen and it surprises me that anyone would expect it to happen. True Christopher. In fact I don't even think it was ever in God's purpose. In Psalm 17:13 David states, "deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: 14 From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life," Thus men (reprobates) who are God's sword against the church are used by God for our trial and tribulation, within God's own purpose. Clearly God's foresight and predestination plan the tribulation of the church using those who are never going to be believers in Christ. So the suggestion of a "national repentance" is a non-starter from the word go. The elect will be tested by the unsaved as part of a process to prepare the church for the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore the reprobate and their ideologies must be in opposition to God, and HIS Bible doctrines and laws. That is exactly where we find the politicians, bureaucrats and others. The next verse teaches "15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness." Amen to that result. |
