I enjoyed reading this article. As I've grown in my walk with The Lord & the Church I've also grown in my understanding of The Lord's table. I have found that I agree more with Calvin's theology of real spiritual presence when it comes to communion. I didn't grow up having communion every week but I started attending a church that did and I really enjoyed doing that. I think that the article is right in that communion should speak of our unity with each other.
Great Response Pastor Bill, I really enjoyed (and enjoy) listening to your response. Thank you for using Job 38. That chapter really makes me think about how the LORD stewards His own creation while giving us dominion over it under Him. Thank you again.
I don't disagree with Kerry when he speaks of our stewardship as humans to take care of our planet because that's part of what it means to be in the image of God; however, this administration is trying to make Islam look peaceful. This administration is blind to real Islam. Those Muslims who hold to the Quran don't care about what "links" us together...they are killing our brothers & sisters along with other groups with in their own ranks who don't agree with them. I'm tired of this administration excusing the behavior of this heretical sect while at the same time condemning Christians in our country for being Christian.
I think S. Leghton is biblically and doctrinally correct. You don't have to be a Calvinist to know what he is saying is the truth. It's very different from The Islamic doctrine of fatalism and weights is totally different. This article proves S. Leghtons point
John UK, here in America the media was all over the countries in the Middle East that experienced what they called the Arab Spring. The AS was when the dictators of both Eygpt & Libya were overthrown with in a few wks of each other. The US supported those governments that were overthrown by the people and liken it on some cases to our independence from England. There was another crisis that was underneath which lead to heavy fighting in Syria. I didn't think it was a good thing for America to be in support of those countries because it wouldn't be in our favor to do so. I believe this ISIS threat on the west was always at the backbone of the AS. I hope that kind of answered your question sorry it took me a while to respond. Oh the Arab Spring happen almost 2-3yrs ago.
At Get Real From Earth...no one causes you to sin. You were lead by your own desires (James 1:13-15). Besides, your post has nothing to do with this article my friend. On another note I'm praying for my brothers and sisters worldwide
Second, for Obama to say that ISIL doesn't speak for any religion he is wrong in that they are following the Quran. The liberal left along with Moderate to liberal Muslims try to feed us the lie that Islam is a religion of peace not realizing that sense it's inception Muhammad & his successors were always of the sword.
1517 & SteveR I think you both are right about this. The herasy of Bahria (a Nestorian who followed the teaching of Arius) was the one who told Muhammad he would be a prophet. That heretical form of Christianity (not even Christian) kicked started Islam. However, I believe that this heretical abomination is a form of Gods judgement on the US because of our unfaithfulness. Reminds me of Habakkuk 1 when the LORD told him the Chaldeans would be used as a chastening rod on His people. By this I don't mean that our brothers & sisters in Iraq & Syria deserve this but ISIS clear goal is the west. The west sense the enlightenment ( and probably before) has been against God and His commandments. We have been storing up wrath. So I think both 1517 & SteveR are right and you both come from two sides that are equally true.
I'm an African American male and I have to say that while I think it's extremely sad and I empathize with the Brown family I am not one who condones the violent protesting that's going on at night in Ferguson. If you heard Al Mohlers The Briefing today I take his perspective on the matter. I think we have to love our neighbors and while doing that wait for the facts. This changes the game some in that it's letting us know more about the altercation that occurred before the fatal shots were fired. I'm praying for justice. Justice for Brown and for Wilson. If Wilson was in his legal rights to defend himself and justice finds him innocent we have to accept that. Also, I feel that the Church needs to really step up and be ministers of reconciliation and remember the truth in Acts 17:26 (I know the context for Paul's argument is different) that God from one man made every nation of mankind..I believe that if we have a biblical worldview in this issue we can help bring some kind of peace to the people looking for justice.
I enjoy your commentaries on our culture. I am an African American male who tries to keep up with the news (local, nation, & worldwide). I really appreciate your approach to the situation in Feeguson. I'm tempted to have a knee jerk response to the situation. I'm not a black panther type and I try to have proper biblical worldview in this situation. I liked that you said we need to what for the facts and while we wait love our neighbors. I'm appalled by the piece in the wjs you read about being unhitched. I'm still praying for Christians worldwide who are being threaten by the sword.
Brothers, I think that wherever we may fall on the matter with Pope Francis and the RCC he is right that this kind of evil in the world needs to be stopped. As a Gospel driven & Christ centered Protestant I'm praying for my brothers & sisters worldwide who are being tormented by the sword of Islam to preserver.
I am encouraged I was extremely encouraged by this lesson. I liked how you reminded us that Jesus is the authority because He is judge. I just had a conversation with a good friend of mine last night about the opinion that because a person has letters behind their name our culture deems their findings as law. It's all the more important for the body to be equipped by the word. Thank you.
Timeless & Timely I listen to this sermon tonight while working and I felt the agony as I think about the church & the broader culture. I'm praying for God to raise up men & women in His Church with that same conviction. Thank u.
