Yes, Hindus can be violent, though Western news media hate to cover those stories.
I do remember coverage of Buddhists rioting in Burma a couple years ago, and a quick web search will reveal the stories there. They were fighting each other, and yet in the West, they are supposed to be such peaceful people.
I think the mistake many Westerners make with these groups is to think that, if they speak English moderately well, then they will play by our rules.
My experience is that this is not the case; they may speak English but are still hard-core pagans at heart, with no sense of fair play or honesty that Westerners think everyone 'decent' should have.

Not a problem for this guy; he will be welcomed at many Episcopal churches in Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, etc. In fact, he might even get an award!

It may be more interesting to see sermons posted on SermonAudio in support of some political issue. That would show that the pastor doesn't mind putting at risk the 501(c)3 status of their corporation (i.e., church).
The IRS website has plenty of info on this section of their code, and how much political action or lobbying can be taken.

I think most pastors don't want to even get close to it, so naturally they will not be standing in front of a congregation to tell them what they will not do.

It would be like asking them, give me a simple yes/no answer: 'have you stopped beating your wife?' to which there is no good answer: yes, means you did beat your wife, no-you are still beating your wife.

Or, if you are married, your wife buys a very expensive new dress and asks you, "Does this dress make me look fat?"

Maybe one good thing about this is that finally Jesus's last name will not be a curse word anymore!

I thought the story was about rabbits, but then saw it was from a study done in Australia. I would be careful dealing with 'studies' since just last month one study said senior adults who do exercise have better brain function, then another study came out a week later to 'prove' that this was not the case.
The study I saw last month or before was that people who have kids were NOT happier than people who did not have kids; even talk show host 'numero uno' in the US, Rush Limbaugh, commented on this study with his vast audience. It also reminds me of a very old issue of "US News and World Report" with a cover photo of a baby with UPC code on its forehead--the story was the million or so dollars that it would cost to raise a child from birth through college.
You could say there is a "War on Families" going on in the US culture where large families are rare. But this would not be news. Better to study the acceptance of women working outside the home, and use of contraceptives. I always thought only Catholics were opposed to contraceptives, so a large family always meant a Catholic family to me. But I learned that many Protestant denominations like Christian Reformed, were opposed to contraceptives, and their families were larger (duh!).

Is Trump buying his office? Isn't that true with the other candidates indirectly through their big money supporters?
For example, Rubio has one that is a car dealer in the Miami area. Will Rubio as President ever decide against cars?
Everyone realizes that running for election is a rich man's game.
Trump is saying--I'm a rich man and I want to play this game. Game on!

On abortion: some people would say the issue of immigration/invasion/border security is more important, especially since so few people have children these days (the average age of child-bearing and marriage have increased in all Western countries in the past decades).
Some candidates bring out the 'i oppose abortion' placard as a way to get votes from conservative Christians, but when it comes time to take control of the Senate or House, nothing much changes. Why is that? Because they only said they supported 1 side to get certain voters interest in them.

1st--story is from a CHristian website, not well known by people who are not Christian, or who call themselves that and are just floating along, more interested in People magazine than something with Christian on it (that would be the majority of those who say yes, when asked in a poll if they are Christian. Do they tithe? Not likely. Do they attend a church service 52 Sundays a year? I doubt it.)

What is more interesting is to see the number of people who are coming out in favor of Trump just because of some of the outrageous things he says, and the immigration/invasion issue he raised, which few people wanted to touch. That press conference he had on the border was a classic move--too bad they couldn't do it in the area where there is little security along the border.
Rep. John Mica of Florida is calling for all US consulate offices in MExico to be closed since the country is 'out of control.'
But that will not make the major news media either.

This is going to be fun! Now the tax authorities will be able to track where the revenue is coming from. How many evangelical Christian colleges are buying these materials? Your friendly UPS or FedEx delivery personnel know, that's for sure.

Imagine-Alabama--a state in the Bible Belt--getting revenue from this source!

I am disappointed that, of the 13 comments posted before me, not a single one has found a Bible verse to quote. Something is slipping among the 2 dozen regular readers of S.A. news.

I remember reading an article in Audubon magazine about another study done in England about the presence of birds and the presence of domestic cat owners. You can guess the results of the study: towns that had more cats had many less birds! Duh!
Then, here's their ground-breaking conclusion: tell cat owners to never let their cats go outdoors!
The reaction of cat owners: I feed my cats the best food, there is no need for them to hunt birds or mice!
But they still do, so there must be something missing in the 'domesticated' part.

Hello Dave of Oz-Australia: you mean, the aborigines and Maori worship in the same churches with everyone else?
Just kidding.
Thomas Sowell, author and columnist for conservative sources here, has written an excellent book on ethnicity that tells the story of racism in many parts of the world. One thing I learned from it is that the Chinese are the most discriminated people across the world--they are hated in many places. I do remember a news story about rioting in Malaysia (or was it the Philippines?) over them. After the riots ended, the govt. decided to pass a law saying the Chinese couldn't own so many businesses.
THen they had another problem--the nationals or natives--did not pick up the slack, so there were shortages in the economy. I don't remember if they repealed their earlier law.
And then there is Dr. Howard Sala of the Guidelines radio program, who has worked in the Philippines for many years. He was asked by Americans how to tell apart the different Asians. He said it is easy, if they are interested in working hard, saving money, building up businesses, then they are Chinese. If they are very smart and more interested in intellectual things (like sudoku puzzles, scientific research) then they are Japanese.

Baptists may be more libertarian than Christian, since they allow so much freedom in their churches.

Previous post mentioned how you can become a Baptist minister 'within a month' if you play your cards right and find a small church looking for a pastor.

There is no 'accountability' like a license that an architect, barber, or truck driver, dentist would have to pass a test to get.

Thus, they have an "open-door" policy on Freemasons. Many churches do not allow members who belong to any secret fellowship or society.

This study only proves that a bunch of German women were upset in the first year of being a new parent. It needs to be duplicated in other countries, across a variety of religious settings (Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Native American, Republican) to see if it is applicable to all people.
But no one pays attention to this and instead is using this study to prove that their lifestyle--be it single, divorced, sodomite, etc.---is the best.
It does show that Germany (and many other European countries) have a big problem in that their people think child-raising is such a pain in the neck.

I remember a story years ago from San Francisco that set a non-circumcision group against practicing Jews who wanted to follow their customs (on the 8th day, when they also name the boy). I don't know how it was finally settled, but it did raise the issue for a lot of people.
Some people think that when Joseph was dressed up as an Egyptian when he was a #2 guy there, and his brothers were visiting, he 'revealed' himself as a circumcised Jew to them. It's not in the Bible but you know how people will think up things 'outside the box."

Once again, another church leaving their denomination. The key issue will be--who will own the property? I remember a similar case reported here in SA in California where the church had to pay a big fee to leave the same denomination.

To clarify the points I was making earlier, since it seems not everyone understood.
1. Social Security is a Fact of Life--very hard to excuse yourself, set up your private account. I think ministers can declare themselves 'off the system' by making it a religious issue.
2. The US Govt is keeping track of every dollar you make for that 35-Year History. Every dollar you do not 'declare' (like waiters who don't report all their tips) will not count in that 35 yr history. Every year a mother is out of the workforce is counted as a big 0, which lowers the 35 yr average.
3. Families in US who make below a certain income level, say $45k for a family of 4, do not pay Federal Income Tax, and in fact receive Federal Monies back--Earned Income Credit.
Dave Ramsey's Radio Hour on Taxes was referring to Federal Income Tax, not State, Local, Property, Estate, Inheritance, Sales taxes. He emphasized how large a percentage of the US population was not paying any Federal Income Tax.
Therefore, a homeschooling family who makes less money is not paying Federal Taxes--and so who does pay for the Federal Budget? It must be those who make more money, singles, etc. In effect, they are supporting the homeschooling families.
The issue of College Education is another one that needs to be dealt with.

For single mothers--who make up more and more families--homeschooling is simply not a choice, unless the Church decides it will support them while they do it, or pay for their kids to be in private school (and perhaps many churches are doing this, or many Christian private schools pay for their workers' kids to attend).
I mentioned the Social Security 35 Year Average to remind people to 'count the cost' as the Good Book says.
Christian financial radio host Dave Ramsey was commenting about taxes recently, taking his info from a recent Wall St Journal article on it. One fact was that many people in the US do not pay any tax, and he has fielded at least one call from a guy who was getting money back (Earned Income Credit) from the feds.
Thus, you could say that since homeschooling reduces the taxable income of the family, the rest of the taxpayers are supporting them.
Another issue is College Student Debt---did the mother go to college and have big debt as a result--like over $100K? Dave has had many callers in that situation where the wife decides to be a 'stay-at-home' mom instead of working; not a good idea in his book.
In addition, you could say that 'a mind is a terrible thing to waste'--what happened to all that college education?

ALL GOOD--ALL GOOD--because it draws attention to what is going on in churches, which many people could care less about. So maybe a few will be curious and check out one side, then check out the other.

I've heard a lot of bull coming from pulpits, but never seen a bull in the pulpit!
I think it's great that this guy is trying something creative.
Just watch out for the 'pot-luck supper' afterwards, though I don't think I could resist a bar-b-q of the aforementioned bull.

Problem with homeschooling--who does it? Usually, I would guess the mother does it. Therefore, 'single mothers need not apply.'
Also, I have heard of another, maybe related movement towards mothers leaving the workforce.
Some economists can say that, when you take out the cost of commuting, lunches, dry cleaning, taxes, etc, the end wage is more like minimum wage (and this was before the "Living Wage" movement started).
But one thing that is forgotten in this calculation is Lifetime Social Security Earnings. The Great Secret of Social Security that many neglect is that it is based on your 35-year work history.
For example, if a mother works 10 yrs, then stays home 10 yrs, works another 15 yrs, then for the stay-home yrs, her Soc. Sec. record is 0, and this reduces the overall Soc. Sec. payout which is based on the Average of the 35-year work history. I think more people need to look at this 35-yr Average before assuming it is always better for the mother to stay home.
