Regarding Christianity and the attacks on it from any source, I seem to recall the words of a great Rabbi named Gamaliel. Although the Bible does not record this fact, it is a truism that this Gamaliel was the protege of Hillel the Elder, one of the most revered and important teachers in Jewish history. Gamaliel said in Acts 5:38,39: ...."for if this counsel (the Gospel) be of men, it will come to nought, But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God." Now I'm sure that Mr. Mohler believes in the inerrancy of Scripture, as well as the Sovereignty of God. Believers have got to stop thinking that they must wage holy war against reprobates and unbelievers. Some of us sound like Winston Churchill gearing up against the Nazis. "We will fight them on land, we will fight them on sea, we will fight them in the air etc". "And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear:FOR THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S"
1 Sam. 17:47. We could include "or ballot box" to swords and spears for the sake of the political activists out there. Just preach the Gospel "in season and out". His elect have been chosen "from before the foundation of the world". His "rain falls on the just and the unjust". "Rest in the Lord". Amen ?

Help me out here, as I am confused. Are you telling me that Sandra Day O'Connor retired from the Supreme Court to serve on a Federal Appeals Court? That's like retiring from the Army as a General to serve in the Army as a Captain. What gives? I thought she was spending her retirement years as Chancellor of the College of William and Mary, and as a trustee of the National Constitution Center in Philly.

I was led to believe that the Puritans used the Geneva Bible and rejected the KJV believing it to have been influenced by King and Episcopate forces in contention with Puritan ideas of "No King But Christ".

For the record, I did not move to Syracuse. I was having a "senior" moment while thinking of a friend in Syracuse and typed that in as my location on the earlier post. I just caught it.

It is important to remember that the Reformers were just coming out of Rome. Most were ordained "priests". The Reformation, like all historical movements, grew as time went on.. Thus early Reformers held to more of Rome than they would later on. The more Rome resisted reform, the more radical the Reformation became. Thus Luthernism gave way to Calvinism which gave way to Zwinglism which gave way to Anabaptism etc. Thus the Apocrypha was slowly eased out of Protestant Bibles from being good for historical reasons only, to being not worthy to grace the same pages of Holy Writ.

Obviously it should be named a Zacchaeus bug. Or properly Taxus Collectus Shortus Jerichos Zacchaeus Sycamorus.

In 1954, when I was in the 2nd grade preparing for my First Holy Communion, Mother Arcangel (who was in charge of instructing the little communicants) told us a story of a young boy (it was always a boy, never a girl) who decided to do this very thing. He kept the host in his mouth and snuck it into his pocket and brought it home. Then the little savage (what else could he be) nailed the host to his bedroom wall. (I am NOT making this up). The host then (according to the reliable Mother Arcangel) began to bleed profusely. The blood ran down the walls, filled up his room and only stopped when the priests were called to retrieve the host and return it to the tabernacle. The young miscreant died of divine shock, (no doubt going straight to hell, no purgatory for him)and his parents lived in perpetual agony for the rest of their lives. The sacred blood immediately disappeared. I beleive that young Romanists today are spared such stories, even being allowed to chew what was then the unchewable host. The story worked though. Decades later when Holy Mother Church allowed communicants to "hold" the wafer and put it in their own mouth, I insisted on the priest putting it in my mouth. I wasn't taking any chances. Then I picked up a Bible & praise the Lord I saw the light.

WND you all are a riot! You went through that whole article just to get the point across that the culprit "has a blog on Sen. Barack Obama's campaign website". So what? Cheyney's daughter is a lesbian, as is Gingrich's sister, and there is an organization known as the "Logcabin Republicans" made up of members of the GOP who are G-A-Y ! You can be sure that there are some closet queens in your own organization. Your attempt to singularly attach a particular sin to a particular organization is parochial and immature. Yet you just can't help yourself. You must have been born that way!

Anyone who claims to be Christian and does not believe in the exclusivity of salvation through Christ alone is a fool, or a liar or both. Christ claimed to be the only way. If this is not true, then Christ is either a fool or the biggest fraud that ever walked the earth. Why would you follow such a person? You can't have it both ways. Either Christ is who He says He is or he is not.
KK: With all due respect, curb the race baiting. It is unbecoming for a Christian. Regardless of what you believe these two may think about whites, they have never expressed it and you don't know the content of their hearts, only God does.

Gee, I couldn't find that "Drop Dead" quote anywhere in the article. Could WND have been inflaming the headline ?
Do they do that ?

I do not personally believe that cremation is Biblical, but I'll save the in depth argument for another time. This article has merit though. I believe that the traditional, Jewish orthodox way of dealing with the corpse is the most Biblical. No embalming. Wash the body, wrap it in a shroud, put it in a plain wooden box and bury it before the following sundown. Remember man, "dust thou art and unto dust thou shalt return". Gen.3:19. To try and load the corpse with toxic embalming fluid, stuff cotton into the orifices, crazy glue the eyelids and lips, cover it with makeup, put it on display and then seal it in caskets and vaults so that it will remain free from rot for 100 years is a poor example for people who believe that it is just a temporary jar of clay, and is awaiting it's glorious resurrection when even the sea shall give up the dead.

Two points. First: "Presbyterianism" is a church polity pertaining to government within a congregation. There are Presbyterian denominations which are very conservative and Presbyterian denominations which are very liberal. To paint all Presbyterians with the same brush as the PCUSA is a sign of ignorance. Compare a Reform Baptist congregation with an Independent Baptist congregation and an ABC congregation with an SBC congregation and your head will spin. Ditto a Primitive Methodist with a United Methodist, or Wisconsin Synod Lutheran with an Evangelical Lutheran. Secondly: If as the "Right Rev" speaks we should condone homosexuality because "they were born that way", should we then tolerate pedophilia, and bestiality because they were "born that way"? How about necrophilia? How about sadism? There is nothing "right" about the "Right Rev." and his thinking.

"This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you. He will take your sons and appoint them for himself...and to make his instruments of war...he will take your fields and vineyards and give them to his servants....he will take your men and maids and put them to his work....And ye shall cry out in that day because of the king which ye have chosen you, and the LORD will not hear you in that day." "Never the less the people refused to obey the word....and they said 'NAY, BUT WE WILL HAVE A KING OVER US that we may be like all (the other) nations'". 1st Sam.8.
Leave it in God's hands my friends. He does not need you to have His perfect will done on earth - even in the USA. Ye flatter yourselves too much as the agents of the Almighty. Learn what the Sovereignty of God really means and curb your political ambitions. The nations of Israel and Judah had many more evil rulers than Godly ones, but God kept His covenant with those who held Him in their heart. Ye seek an earthly kingdom built with hands, yet the kingdom of God is within you!

They knelt down while wearing crimson vestments and had the pope place a woolen shawl on them. How silly! When will people realize that ritual and pageantry mean nothing? Does anyone really believe that God in heaven looks down upon this nonsense and is pleased like someone fascinated by a circus performance? All these grown men prancing around in gorgeous robes like flaming harlequins trying to consolidate their power over the minds of millions who need to hear the pure Gospel of salvation through faith in Christ's atoning work ALONE! How shameful to continue to awe the ignorant and superstitious with such displays. How like the Pharisees who laid heavy burdens upon men and lifted not a finger of their own, and were condemned by Christ for it. Where is the humility? Where is the cross bearing? How can they claim to be examples of Christ who had no home, no place to rest His sacred head, nothing but the clothes on His back, and fed by devout followers who had little for themselves? Shame, shame, shame on this joint display of pride, avarice and filthy lucre!

Mr. Mugabe better pray that someday Jed Clampett isn't wandering around Zimbabwe shootin' at some food, and up from the ground comes some bubblin' crude, oil that is, black gold, texas tea. Because if that happens, the USA will get serious about human rights violations and teach that bad boy a lesson. But unless and until Bad Boy Bobby Mugabe finds himself sitting on an oil reserve, or threatens Israel, chances are he can torture to his heart's content. The West won't care less.

I must have missed the news the night John McCain said that Jesus was the only way to salvation, and that those that are not Christians can not enter heaven.

I remember similar hysteria over the "Mars rock" some twenty years age. Keep two things in mind: 1) These bozos need occasional publicity to keep the public funding coming into their lives so they don't have to get real jobs, and 2) They all want to disprove God before they die. The funding will continue, but they will all be dead before they disprove God.

What do you expect when so called "Fundamentalists" such as John Hagee teach that Jews don't need Christ since they have their own deal with God? This is the same nonsense that Papists used to call "Baptism by Desire" as a way around John 14:6. The Puritan, Reformed, Protestant, Covenant Theology was and remains the only true understanding of God's Salvation plan as found in Scripture. Any deviation from that hermaneutic position, be it Popery, Pentecostalism, Adventism (in all it's "Left Behind" silliness), or extreme Christian Zionism is Christologically weak and rife with error. Salvation is by Grace ALONE, through Faith ALONE, in Christ ALONE, as revealed in Scripture ALONE, for God's Glory ALONE. If you can't understand this, believe it, and live it, pray for God's intervention because you are headed straight to hell, no matter what brand of "Christian" you believe yourself to be.
