Miguel wrote: wouldn't you say that there are also plenty of OT prophecies that are clear? Yeah, and there seems to be a time for revealing OT prophecies -"Behold, the tempest of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, a sweeping tempest; It will burst on the head of the wicked. The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back, until He has performed, and until He has accomplished the intent of His heart; IN THE LATTER DAYS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THIS." Jer 30:23,24 _______________ Oh, and DJC49, were you looking for 1 Peter 1:10-12? "As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful search and inquiry, seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven - things into which angels long to look." After having typed it, maybe not. Maybe it was another reference you were seeking. |

BWS,Have you read Brigitte Gabriel's book? Regardless of whether or not you have, the book details her reality of living in a country that has been decimated by the Muslims. It is a personal account of her survival, not a book on theology. Whether or not she is a born again Christian, or one in name only, does not take away from lessons that can be learned from what happened to her and her family and others in her country. You are the one who is undiscerning if you do not consider Islam a threat to the American way of life - namely, freedoms that many in the world have never known - including the freedom to worship, as well as the freedom of speech. So, again, have you read the book? |

rogerant wrote: On the word “World”. See how John and the Holy Spirit use the word. What implications might arise out of using the word as “every human being that has ever lived.. Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. If Jesus came to take away the sins of the world, then how can God condemn anyone of sin? If Jesus came to take away and pay the penalty for everyone’s sin, and people are still going to go to hell for them, then Jesus failed, and God has demanded payment from both parties for the same crime. Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Again, If God sent his Son into the world so that the “world” might be saved, then He his will has been thwarted by man. God the Father has also failed. Joh 6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. If the bread (Son) of God giveth life to the “world” then the entire world must be saved. Compulsorily heaven for all. That's the best use of Scripture for refutation of the "world" in its entirety that I have heard. It would lead to universalism, wouldn't it? |

DJC49 wrote: Christiana, Please don't get me wrong on this issue concerning sarcasm. It's NOT to be used as an instrument for chopping down people merely for the sake of chopping down people.I hope that clears things up. Yes, it does. James 3: 6-8 "And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and is set on fire by hell. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison." Certainly, this has been a work of the Holy Spirit in my life, toward sanctification, from my youth, and will be until I die. "He who began a good work in me, will complete it in the day of Christ Jesus." Phil 1:6 |

DJC49 wrote: There's nothing wrong with a bit of sarcasm every now and then, Christiana. As a matter of fact, there's lots of it in Scripture. Here are but a few examples: 1Kings 18:27 Amos 4:4 Eccl 11:9 1Cor 4:8 Hmmm. . .after a lifetime of being reproved by pastors and christians for my sarcasm, and I now use it sparingly, there is someone who uses Scripture to tell me it's okay. . . |

DJC49 wrote: Pastor Trevor Hammack rebuttal [of Pastor Click's message on SA] "]]Response to the TULIP Wilts." Thank you for posting this link to the rebuttal to Pastor Click's message; however, while Pastor Hammack speaks the truth, he does it with condescending sarcasm. I recognize sarcasm because it is something that comes easy for me when I am frustrated with the willful ignorance of others. Pastor Hammack sounds young. He says he loves Truth, as does everyone who has been born again. Anyone who is born of God has come to a place of submission, and that means brokenness. Broken people are people of humility, and this will come through in one's speech. It is so important to speak the Truth with love which is inclusive of humility and grace. May Pastor Hammack speak the Truths of God's Word with love. He'll be so much more effective when he does. |

Alan H wrote: DJC49, I am a little surprised that Christiana would give you an unqualified "Amen" concerning your post. It is very evident that she says she believes something which she really doesn't; either that or she does not fully understand the issue at hand. Well, what I DO understand is that there are bigger issues than be-laboring one's position on gender roles. I have spent all the time that I care to on this issue. The "church" jumped on the "psychology" bandwagon, after the world had discarded it and moved into "spiritualism." The church followed the world on the "self-esteem" bandwagon. When will we ever be forward looking instead of "navel gazing?" Islam is NOW the encroaching "enemy" and most Christians don't have a clue of what the Quran teaches. All of the politically correct people want to describe it as a "Religion of Peace." As John Stossel says, "Gimme a Break!" Time would be better spent informing the "sheep" of the differences in Christianity and Islam, and that they are not compatible. On a more personal note: "Alan, Have a blessed Sabbath's day rest." And, YES! I am grateful to DJC49 for stating his opposition to Morecraft's message. |

Amazinggrace wrote: You who are called Calvinists, — though you are not merely Calvinists, but the old, legitimate successors of Christ, — you ought above all men to be very gentle with your opponents, for, recollect, according to your own principles, they cannot learn truth unless they are taught of God; and if you have been taught of God, you ought to bless his name; and if they have not, you should not be angry with them, but pray to God to give them a better education."(MTP: Sermon 2594 Offence of the Cross) My thinking exactly of how Calvinists should deal with JD when he was so vociferously debating Calvinism.Thank you, *AmazingGrace* for posting this. Wonder what happened to JD? I hope he's doing well. |

DJC49 wrote: First, listen to the sermon. Then ... Boiling down Joe Morecraft's sermon to it's essence, we Christians, by Biblical injunction (according to Morecraft), are NEVER permitted to vote for: 1) ANY FEMALE candidate for political office whatsoever nor for 2) ANY MALE candidate who is NOT a bona fide Christian! With these 2 guidelines, and in light of the days in which we live, ALL Christians should ... JUST STAY HOME (!) ... and vote for NO ONE. Why? Well, all women are disqualified, and how on earth are we to KNOW what male candidate is truly a Christian? Anyone can profess to be a Christian, and, as a matter of fact and record, they all DO profess their "Christianity!" So ... without KNOWING -- with certainty -- a male candidate's spiritual pedigree, we run the risk of voting for a nominal Christian thereby breaking point #2 of the guidelines. Brilliant sermon, Joe. Just brilliant! _ Morecraft gives the unwitting prescription for pagans forever ruling in the highest offices of this land -- one way or the other. FINALLY!!!!!! |

KK wrote: RT / San Diego, California 38) ... Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Jesus is coming again soon and the Message hasn't changed !!! REPENT AND RECEIVE "IN" CHRIST AND CHRIST ALONE !!! THERE IS NO OTHER WAY !!! Today men have changed "THE TRUTH" and itching ears like their twisted lies better. Veritas Vincit !!! "IN" Christ (Ever A Work In Progress), KK AMEN to your post, KK.When we were in San Francisco, in the early '90's, there were guys holding signs saying "Repent," and they were walking near retail businesses. I tried to get them to answer a question, but they would not speak. It was interesting - the "Repent" sign was attention getting, but there was no mention of Jesus. Actually, their silence was also attention getting. Back to your post. "Repent" is the message that needs to be heard, and, "in Christ alone." |

Lurker wrote: The word "compass" in this passage means protect. The woman is not a reference to Mary but rather Sarah, an allegory (Gal 4:24) for Mount Zion and God's covenant of peace just as Hagar is an allegory for Mount Sinai. This is revealed in v. 23 "habitation of justice, ***mountain of holiness.***" (See also Psalms 132:13-15) The "new thing" created is the new birth.... "Ye must be born again" and corresponds with the new covenant discourse following in Jer 31:31-34. Lurker,I have been puzzled over this Scripture for years (Jer. 31:22 - "a new thing created in the earth." I've been dwelling on this post, and it makes sense. "We have this treasure in earthen vessels. ." 2 Cor 4:7 "Christ in us, the hope of glory. ." Col 1:27 The indwelling Holy Spirit is a "new creation" on earth. |

Alan,I tried to edit the previous post of 10/1 12:28 p.m., but failed to do so in a timely manner. There were some words out of place. Hopefully, the above corrections will make my previous post easier to read. |

Alan,Thank you for the link on Complementarianism. That describes my belief, since it is Biblical. My point is: the role of a woman is described in Scripture almost as a passing comment, and should be treated as such. The born again Believer will submit to the Word! It is pointless to preach submission to the unredeemed. What they need is gospel. When the Holy Spirit writes the law of God on the heart of the Believer, they do not have to be told "Thou shalt not steal, murder, ..whatever." The Holy Spirit convicts, brings into conformity to the law, sanctifies - that which an external code of conduct can never do. Jesus' whole ministry was taught that outward conformity (alone) to man-made rules was served no purpose in true religion, but that a relationship with God is through the Spirit. He broke rules that they adhered to as a testimony of righteousness, - like healing on the Sabbath, etc., but served no purpose in worshipping a Holy God. Only the indwelling Spirit would once again bring the intimacy of the relationship that Adam had before the fall. This message can be presented by pastors when there is a situation that calls for it. Tone and delivery are key. Grace and Truth must come together. The Believer will not reject such. |
