Many people do not use food stamps to actually get food...they trade them for other things. It is a fact and the government is aware of all the fraud and does little abour it. So if you are for the program in its current form, you are for lying and cheating. Not sound Biblical to me.
This is another example of the continued dismantling of the military. My army prosecutor friends tell me most their time is now spent on sexual issues. Who touched who, who got who pregnant, who said what that hurt anothers feelings? Is this what we want our commanding officers spending their time on? The atheists have set a flame to old glory and we just sit smelling the smoke. Our enemies are gleeful. Yet our Saviour still reigns.
Marcela: I agree with 1517. Many excuse their selfishnees by saying, as in this article, but "What if I cannot give the child the life he/she deserves?" What they are saying is that no life is better than an ideal one. That makes no sense and is contrary the blessedness of children.
Mike is right on target. God defined marriage and it is not subject to man's revision. We lead little ones astray if we refer to this perversion as "gay marriage" or "same sex marriage." It ain't marriage any more than I can suddenly declare I am a black man (i am not) or that my birddog is my child.
Angela: I agree and fall into that camp. At the same time, I can understand how the government would need to pursue and prosecute. Snowden should have at least tried talking first to senators who already knew about the program and expressed grave concerns. He could have given them the full extent of the intrusion and watched to see what came of it.
40 percent do daily family devotion. If correct, that number, though down, would probably blow away most denominarions. People wonder what fancy programs, counselors, or schools can impact their children for Christ and the answer is the Holy Scriptures sitting on their shelf taught to their own daily at the kitchen table.
Shawn: It is confusing but the research article is the third article and has numerous citations. I would say the numbers appear to be consistent with my observations. Homeschooling is growing primarily for 3 reasons: 1) Violence/bullying in government schools, 2) Explicit and/or warped sex ed being forced on young students, and 3) parents wanting a better and Godly education at home. Let's rejoice in this latter response.
It is not about quitting the BSA but replaciing it with scouting that incorporates Biblical standards and teaching. Think of all the opportunities to impact young men with the gospel that have been lost because scouting had to tow the line on political correctness. New organizations are being formed. Pray for their success.
