I still listen to Camping from time to time but I don't believe everything he says.He does act like a sort of modern-day Jeremiah with his often severe but just criticisms of the present-day churches. Ironically, it was Camping who incessantly "nagged" me to join a church while listening to his Open Forum program nightly back in the late 90's following a lengthy period of apostacy in my own life. Ironic because not long after I finally joined a faithful local congregation (at Camping's own proddings), he did a complete 180 and started telling me and the rest of his listeners to "get out of the church". I don't like being jerked-around--not even by such a renowned Bible teacher as Camping is (was?). Gee, maybe if I leave my church, Camping will do yet another 180 in his teachings and insist that I JOIN one again. Seriously, I've no intention of leaving my church unless, God-forbid, They quit preaching the Gospel and Biblical worship of God. |

Amen!SB, Abigail, Owen Buck, CMT. Public education seems to have been thoroughly undermined by special interests hostile to Christianity these days. ...And talk about being politically incorrect, back in 1970's American pubilc schools we used to play a game at noon recess called "smear the queer", in which the kid who had the ball was "the queer", and everone else had to "take him down". Though the game was frowned-upon by our instructors they didn't meddle in our affairs unless someone got hurt. I got the wind knocked-out of me a couple of times but I also got A LOT of excercise, chasing the other kids...and I dare say it surely toughened-me-up quit a bit. Having recently re-visited my old elementary school I was astonished to notice that the tall slides, swings, and elaborate monkeybars and merry-go-rounds had been replaced by what looked like pathetic little hamster cages, with tiny but "safe" slides and climbing apparatti. Kids today may be having more "gadget-based" fun, but I pity their lack of the physical fun my generation benefitted from. |

Not at all suprised by this article.Back in the late 60's, my dad aquired several dozen Playboy magazines from one of his Air Force buddies which my dad made little effort to conceal. As a result both my brother and I eventually discovered them and subsequently corrupted ourselves to a significant degree back in the early 70's. To my suprise, my SISTER recently admitted that she ALSO discovered them, and was corrupted by them, after I shared my and my brother's experience with my dad's carelessness regarding this media. My suprise arose from being told (back then) that porno was a MALE problem, and that women were largely imune to this stuff. What a lie! Then again, the 70's were a fertile breeding ground for lies...or so it seems to me. I guess my point is please, please, PLEASE, DADS. Be VERY careful not to let this stuff (porno) fall into the hands of your kids. YOUR sins can pass on to your kids with multiplying effects! BEWARE! |

I couldn't find any sermons by him (James Kennedy) in the SA archives to listen to, to see where he really stood. Then again, big-name preachers like him, Sproul, and others have their own outlets, which often require you to spend money to gain access. I tend to share Abigail's suspicions regarding large churches, but I'm told Spurgeoun had a pretty big church in London, back in the day (mid- 1800s?), leading me to belive that there can be exceptions to the whole "one of a city, two of a family"-rule of Christian conversion/outreach. Sorry. I didn't mean to suggest that the US constitution was inspired the same way scripture is. My only intent was to give God the glory for blessing us with our current freedoms rather than glorifying our founding fathers as so many of my fellow conservatives (non-Christian conservatives, not you, NY Mike) are wont to do.Do I fear laws? I suppose it's more righteous to fear laws rather than simply fearing the consequences of breaking laws. Better still, fear the One who ultimately gives the law(s). I think Romans 13 talks about this among other things. I'll have to think about this some more. Didn't intend for my post to sound as paranoid as it does, now that I re-read it. |
