“ Great Sermon! ”
In this Sermon, he has spoken truths I heard in my childhood, Will God punish sin? yes He must and will punish sin or God is not God,but to feel this, then one cannot die, for dying is meeting God who is a consuming fire, only His free sovereign and electing grace will save a poor wretch, may God bless his word to some poor soul who struggles in this dark world.

Yes, Genesis 9:6 very much applies here. It seems ironic to me that we still apply God's command about animals that kill men, but not God's command given at the same time about men that commit murder. (Let's get something clear, the 6th commandment prohibits murder, not killing. That is according to the Hebrew. Besides, to prohibit killing WOULD prohibit the punishment God Himself defined for murder.) That does not make it our personal job to perform the penalty. That is government's DUTY. (Yes, I would be the executioner without guilt or remorse if that was my job and the executions were ordered as the result of a justice-seeking judicial system.) The question should not be IF we should support the death penalty, but for what offenses, and obviously murder is the top of the list.

Jim from Nebraska.

Maybe you and I should find out wherever our good buddy, Neil
from Tuscon went, and go there...and leave this forum to the
conspiracy nuts that seem to be increasingly corrupting it.

What do you say?

I still listen to Camping from time to time but I don't believe
everything he says.

He does act like a sort of modern-day Jeremiah with his often
severe but just criticisms of the present-day churches.

Ironically, it was Camping who incessantly "nagged" me to join a
church while listening to his Open Forum program nightly back in
the late 90's following a lengthy period of apostacy in my own life.

Ironic because not long after I finally joined a faithful local
congregation (at Camping's own proddings), he did a complete 180
and started telling me and the rest of his listeners to "get out
of the church".

I don't like being jerked-around--not even by such a renowned
Bible teacher as Camping is (was?).

Gee, maybe if I leave my church, Camping will do yet another 180
in his teachings and insist that I JOIN one again.

Seriously, I've no intention of leaving my church unless, God-forbid,
They quit preaching the Gospel and Biblical worship of God.

There's always Prairie Bible Institute,
which a friend of mine who went their
back in the early 80's said he saw a
significant number of Mennonites in
attendance.

I'm suprised we beat Japan.

When I was growing up I was told that the
Japanese spent more time in school and
worked harder than Americans did.

Unless, as Abigail said, differences
in our economies meant that we didn't
have to work as hard as they did to
gain the same profit.

The History Channel recently had a good
show that systematically debunked many
of the conspiracy theories surrounding
911.

Well worth the time even if you're not
one carried away by conspiracy theories.

One can check their website to see when
it will be shown again.

Amen!

SB, Abigail, Owen Buck, CMT.

Public education seems to have been thoroughly undermined by
special interests hostile to Christianity these days.

...And talk about being politically incorrect, back in 1970's
American pubilc schools we used to play a game at noon recess
called "smear the queer", in which the kid who had the ball was
"the queer", and everone else had to "take him down". Though
the game was frowned-upon by our instructors they didn't meddle
in our affairs unless someone got hurt.

I got the wind knocked-out of me a couple of times but I also
got A LOT of excercise, chasing the other kids...and I dare
say it surely toughened-me-up quit a bit.

Having recently re-visited my old elementary school I was
astonished to notice that the tall slides, swings, and elaborate
monkeybars and merry-go-rounds had been replaced by what looked
like pathetic little hamster cages, with tiny but "safe" slides
and climbing apparatti.

Kids today may be having more "gadget-based" fun, but I pity
their lack of the physical fun my generation benefitted from.

Despite repeated testimony about how spiritually
dead the UK is becoming it sure is nice to hear
that you guys still have some very alert and
faithful shepards over there.

One cannot serve two masters, and since we
Christians are commanded to "pray without ceasing"
and to meditate on Gods word "day and night", where
then is there any remaining mental or spiritual
resource to devote to Yoga or any other extranious
activity?

Not at all suprised by this article.

Back in the late 60's, my dad aquired several dozen Playboy magazines
from one of his Air Force buddies which my dad made little effort to
conceal.

As a result both my brother and I eventually discovered them and
subsequently corrupted ourselves to a significant degree back in
the early 70's.

To my suprise, my SISTER recently admitted that she ALSO discovered
them, and was corrupted by them, after I shared my and my brother's
experience with my dad's carelessness regarding this media.

My suprise arose from being told (back then) that porno was a MALE
problem, and that women were largely imune to this stuff.

What a lie! Then again, the 70's were a fertile breeding ground
for lies...or so it seems to me.

I guess my point is please, please, PLEASE, DADS. Be VERY careful
not to let this stuff (porno) fall into the hands of your kids.

YOUR sins can pass on to your kids with multiplying effects!

BEWARE!

Now I remember!

The only thing I heard about D James Kennedy that sounded weird
was that he claimed that one could somehow discern gospel truth by
studying the stars and planets. I think I heard it from Hank
Hanigraaf, so his site surely has more on this subject.

I couldn't find any sermons by him (James Kennedy) in the SA archives
to listen to, to see where he really stood.

Then again, big-name preachers like him, Sproul, and others have their
own outlets, which often require you to spend money to gain access.

I tend to share Abigail's suspicions regarding large churches, but I'm
told Spurgeoun had a pretty big church in London, back in the day (mid-
1800s?), leading me to belive that there can be exceptions to the whole
"one of a city, two of a family"-rule of Christian conversion/outreach.

Scott M and 33k make me feel better.

I read NO books this year or last, but
still absorbed a lot of information from
many other sources.

My sister has read hundreds of books
in the past few years but the vast
majority of these appear to be romance
novels.

Amen to more time and peer-review.

It's easy for people to miss something or see something
that's not there.

I remember hearing about archeologists examining an ancient
Maya relief, showing people bowing before a king with what
was assumed to be red "nail polish" dripping from their
fingertips until finally one of them realized that these
were not accolytes wearing "nail polish" but humiliated
POWs who had just had their fingertips severed.

Mark M.

They ought to call that course "Blasphemy 101", for that's pretty
much what's being taught, in addition to breaking the 2nd commandment.

Yeah, our country is under judgement.

Rev 2:23 comes to mind implying that if God is willing to do so with
kids in a bad church, how much more those of an apostate nation.

God is not the author of confusion, which is exactly what would
result if this bishop's advice were heeded.

"Allah", in English refers to the god of the muslims, not the
God of the Bible. The distinction is necessary here.

Sorry. I didn't mean to suggest that the US constitution was inspired the same
way scripture is. My only intent was to give God the glory for blessing us
with our current freedoms rather than glorifying our founding fathers as so
many of my fellow conservatives (non-Christian conservatives, not you, NY Mike)
are wont to do.

Do I fear laws? I suppose it's more righteous to fear laws rather than simply
fearing the consequences of breaking laws.

Better still, fear the One who ultimately gives the law(s). I think Romans 13
talks about this among other things.

I'll have to think about this some more.

Didn't intend for my post to sound as paranoid as it does, now that I re-read
it.
